I had honestly forgotten how much of a classic this snack is—until I got sent a box and was instantly taken back to childhood. It's not a rich, dense gourmet cake, but it's exactly what you expect from a snack cake – soft, slightly spongy, and just sweet enough I love the creamy white filling is sweet, smooth, and has that distinct, slightly artificial, yet utterly addictive vanilla-marshmallow-like flavor. It has become my favorite snack. However, the chocolate coating can sometimes flake off, and the creamy filling can squeeze out if not eaten.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ho Hos are now packaged in plastic no longer the signature foil,probably does keep them fresher but really miss the foil. The cake part was drier,not very moist and not as much chocolate flavor as I'd like it to have. The chocolate coating was the best part in the past and still is, the creamy filling was a little bland but still good. I grew up sneaking Ho Hos and really miss the taste but I will probably still buy more of these, they are more expensive than similar ones but in some ways taste better.

Nutritional value aside, I found the Hostess Hoho's to be an overwhelming taste of cake. While the product looks to be evenly proportioned between the chocolate coating, creamy filling and chocolate cake, the flavors do not meld together. The cake overpowers the layers. I was also left with a waxy like coating in my mouth after consumption that I attribute to the outer chocolate layer as the chocolate does not appear to be of high quality. I do like that the cakes are individually wrapped so you don't feel the pressure to eat two, but the individual size has gotten so small that three cakes are considered one serving (3.5 servings per box). Another positive is that you can freeze the HoHo's for a cold snack.

Very sad Ho Hos where a child hood favorite haven't had them in a long time decided to try them again yesterday and they don't taste the same. There is less filling and tastes very dry doesn't taste fresh anymore! What happened to wrapping them in foil to keep them fresh?
