I got this for my son (9) he LOVES anything Hot Wheels. He really loves the ID track cars. The features are awesome and the attention to detail is beautiful. My son plays with this car for hours at a time. You can use this car on any Hot Wheels track, however you will have to buy an App or buy the ID Track to use the ID features, which can be expensive. Got this for my son as a holiday present - Wasn't quite sure how he would react. He really loved the fact that he could play with the car and then go into the Hot Wheels app on the phone and have the same car. It is great that you can have an "upgraded" car in the app without having to do an in app purchase, plus you get the actual car to play with. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a really cool car, but either there should be alternate ways to add cars (QR or manual codes) or it needs to be more clearly labeled that you need NFC to be able to use this feature. I don't know a lot of kids devices (especially younger kids) that have NFC. I realize the portal will allow you to bridge that gap, but again, that should be prominent on the packaging. The app itself can be a little confusing as you need the portal to unlock some features as well. Highly recommend getting portal if you purchase one of these cars. This is fine if you just want to play with the car, but you can't scan it with an IPad; you need a phone and most little boys don't have their own phone. Playing the game was fun but nothing special. It was just like the other car games on the IPad. To get the most enjoyment from playing with these cars, you need the track, but we don't have one of those. While it's a nice car, it's just another Hot Wheels that the kids play with. They do like the racing game that goes with it but they don't love it. They would rather just play with the car on their race track instead. Would be great for those who really love Hot Wheels or avid collectors.
