This is by far the easiest, safest, and most practical drone we have owned. We have had our share of drones over the years, and similar drones to this one where you don't need a remote. With other drones we have had more mishaps then fun. Two things set this drone apart: one is that it actually works as it should. The sensors are spot on and it's very easy to steer by placing your hand as a block wherever you don't want it to go. The sensors pick up on this quick enough that the drone usually doesn't even touch your hand. Same goes for obstacles. It is pretty good at avoiding walls and other things in the house where it keeps flying for a long time without spiraling out of control. The second thing that makes this a great drone is that it's propellers are very well protected and so are you. In the instance you do touch the drone while it is flying you won't get hurt and the propellers won't break if it does happen to bump into something. Both of these features make it a lot of fun indoors and even my smallest child who is 5 was able to play with it no problems.
When your setting there bored this will help waste some time, it's actually fun. Due to being stuck at home away from other people due to current situation, this will give you something to do. It gets so so boring home alone. This actually made me smile and gave me some exercise! Easy to user. Turn it on and away we go, lol. No remotes needed! You just put your hand under the UFO shaped toy and it rises. It had an underside motion detector. Whenever it detects something near bottom it rises. Not excillerating fun , but gives you something ti do and keeps your mind off things. I recommend.
As the fun uncle, it's my responsibility to equitably entertain all of my nieces and nephews (at least, that's what I tell myself). And as anyone with several kids in their life knows, it's not easy to come up with something cheap and shareable. So I'm a fan of the classics - give me a ball and I can entertain myself all day, and the first rule of making something fun for kids is making sure you're enjoying it too. Fun is contagious. Still, a ball can get boring for today's kids, especially if they aren't athletic. A little novelty is needed from time to time - which is exactly where this UFO excels. If you've ever watched kids bat a balloon around a room, you've got an idea of how they'll interact with this. It floats tantalizingly close, yet just out of reach most of the time. Better yet, this works without touching, so it accelerates at a predetermined pace - that means there's no escalating games of who can spike it the hardest until someone ends up crying. I think of this as Balloon2.0 - a perfectly shareable toy (it's boring to play alone). For athletic kids, it has the appeal of a balloon or a ball, but it's also exciting to kids who love to tinker (how does it work?), or who enjoy lights and colors, or flying things... it hits with a lot of personalities. It's brilliant in its simplicity - no controllers, no accessories, just simple thrills. While the concept is ingenious, the execution is commendable. The toy generally works as described, though there are rare times where it'll get stuff flying into the ceiling. Overall though, flight is good and it responds fairly well to the controls. This isn't a precision instrument, so don't expect 100% accuracy - but frustration is part of the fun anyway. It's also not particularly strong, but remember, there's not supposed to be any contact during play. The engineers had to consider weight in their design, so it's mostly very lightweight plastic. It's not going to hold up to violent strikes, so monitor play carefully. Battery life is just about as long as a kid's attention span, so by the time it's ready for a recharge, they are too. I love this toy because my nieces and nephews love it. It may not last forever, but at least for now it's got their attention and, more importantly, it's got them playing together (and not just playing separately near each other). I look forward to seeing what variations pop up as these inevitably become more popular. One last note: my dogs are terrified of it. I've reassured them it's not an intruder, but even still, I think we'll only be playing with this away from the pups.
The Hover Star motion controlled UFO is so cool. First you have to charge it until the lights flash red on the charging plug. Then to turn it on you just push the button the lights will start flashing and then you start to have fun. To turn it off you push the button that you push to turn on and you hold it for three seconds and The UFO will turn off. It will take time to master it so have patience but right out of the first charge you can just throw it up in the air and the kids will go wild ! This is definitely a toy to have an a party to entertain children they will be in total aww of it. This is a great gift for anybody but definitely over age 6 because you do have to master it definitely takes an adult to try and figure it out to explain to the children but right out of my hand it just started going all over the kids went wild ,the dog went wild .It was a lot of fun! It has motion sensor so it doesn't bump into anything. I felt very safe . The ufo is all inclosed the blades are not exposed very safe toy. I can definitely see me getting a few more of them for everyone in my family you'll love it.
I've had a lot of fun with this thing already. It came charged right out of the box so all I did was press the button on the side, picked it up, and dropped it. Then away it went. It seems to have proximity sensors on all sides, so it just goes about the room trying to avoid obstacles. You can control it with your hand (it sees hands as other obstacles to avoid), but you don't really have to use your hands at all. There is enough natural air drift that keeps it moving and spinning. My father in law had bought a similar device for $15 but it broke after a couple of uses. This one seems much more durable so far. The electric motors emit a high pitched sound as you would expect from a quad copter. We have a dog, and this UFO drives the dog absolutely crazy. I think you should be prepared for most any dog to go after it and possibly want to destroy it. It does have a tough bendable outer cage which keeps the spinning props from touching anything, which is nice. I got a flight time of about 5 minutes the first time, 6 minutes the next, and it does take about half an hour to charge it again. It would be fine for kids, but only without really long hair which could get tangled in the props. Overall a fun little inexpensive gadget!
This little ufo is a fun toy for all ages to use. It's really simple to use and will fly very accurately around the house without hardly ever bumping into anything. Just turn it on and drop it out of your hand to start it, and catch it and flip it upside down to stop. It has little sensors on all 4 corners as well as the bottom to keep it from hitting things. If you want it to go in one direction, just "push" it with your hand and it will go. It flies very smooth and accurately. Makes quite a bit of wind noise. We have had a blast with this little ufo. The dogs are terrified of it. Haha Battery lasts around 10-15 minutes, and it takes about 30 minutes for a full charge with the included USB cable. If you are looking for a fun little toy for the kids, or anyone, this is a fun gadget to pickup. We always show it to company when they come over. It's fun entertainment.
This has been the funnest little toy for my kids. It is simple enough for my 4 year old and fun enough for us adults. It has a short battery life, but recharged quickly. The sensors are high quality and the device has been thrown, kicked, and dropped without any breakage. My kids even played with it for a bit when one is the blades had a bunch of hair caught in it and once I cleaned out the hair it worked great. I highly recommend this product.
This drone is great for younger kids who cannot control an actual drone. This is a self-driven/floating drone. It has sensors on its sides to prevent it from hitting and crashing into its surroundings. Our kiddos love it. I wish the battery lasts long though. Our kids go through one charge way too fast. It flies pretty well. I, personally, like it more than the drones that are controlled by a controller.
The hover star is a great toy for kids 10 and under. The only set up to the hover is plug it in and let it charge. My kids couldn't wait to show me how it flys. So far it has been really durable as the kids have been flying it around the house crashing g it into everything. If I had one knock on it, it would be that the charge doesn't last long enough! It has been a great toy!
This review is for the Hover Star Motion Controlled UFO. Opening The Box - Essentially zero setup, all you have to do is just charge the UFO and turn it on. Unfortunately this uses a specialized charging cable rather than a universal micro USB, but that's not too big of a problem. Performance - While the controls are simple enough, it can become uncalibrated pretty easily. It's not difficult to reset the calibration, but it's kinda annoying how often it needs to be done. I also wish this could perform some tricks, but it can't. These type of motion controlled UFO drones are capable of doing like four to five different tricks, but again this one unfortunately cannot do any. Durability - While it does need to be recalibrated fairly often, I honestly think this little UFO won't break unless you really really try to break it. Its durability is probably the drone's best feature. Overall - Simple little motion controlled UFO drone, but the lack of a universal charging port and inability to perform tricks makes this hard to recommend.
