Better than expected

Lisa January 26, 2025

lots of features and user friendly. I'm used to a 15.6" laptop but I'm really liking this 14" because it is easier to carry around. I can actually put it in my purse. My main use for this HP laptop is writing. I do alot of research and reading and writing. it comes with Microsoft 365 free for one year. I also use it for music. I convert videos into Mp3 and Mp4. Works great for my needs. Also has 1Tb storage with Microsoft cloud.

Nice Light-Weight Laptop

Houstonian28 April 29, 2020

I am very impressed with the HP STREAM 14 CELERON 4GB/64GB LAPTOP. I was skeptical at first due to the 14-inch screen as my other laptops are 17” and 15.6” screens. But the colors on this new HP's screen are vibrant and I am so accustomed to using a tablet as well that the screen does not seem small. The Wi-Fi is noticeably better than on my older laptops and that is helpful. With all of the security threats on the internet today, I like the new Windows 10 Home in S mode as it is promoted as the most secure Windows ever built. I was easily able to update the Windows software after going through the setup process when I removed the laptop from the box. The other adjustment I had to get used to is the small 64GB hard drive as my other laptops have 1 TB of storage. But I can easily store documents I want to work on at the time on the hard drive, but keep the main documents on another laptop, an external hard drive, a thumb drive, or in cloud storage. I am still so security conscious that I would not store some of my sensitive documents in the cloud but many people store everything there. The light weight makes this laptop easy to use at a desk, on the sofa, or even sitting up in bed. The keyboard is very nice and feels sturdy. The casing is fairly light weight but that is by design to make the laptop easy to transport and use. I recommend this laptop as a good performer!

Great Little Laptop!

Yoopergirl9130 April 26, 2020

I received this HP Stream 14 Celeron Laptop and noticed how lightweight it is. I also noticed how attractive the rose pink color is. This HP laptop was so easy to set up. The laptop walks you through every step of the way. I loved that all my information from my old laptop was immediately installed as well, so I have access to all my pictures and documents that were on my old laptop. This HP laptop comes with Windows 10 in S mode and it has a 14 inch screen. It is WiFi ready and has Bluetooth capabilities. The processor is an Intel Celeron with 4GB of system memory and 64GB of storage. This laptop comes with one year of Office 365 Personal which is wonderful. I am able to use the Excel to do financial reports now at home. You also get 60 monthly Skype minutes and 1TB of OneDrive storage. It comes with 3 USB ports and a memory card slot. It has a security cable slot an HDMI slot and an audio in/out jack for your headphone or microphone use. It has a built in camera as well. I couldn't find anything I didn't like about this laptop and so I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great laptop.

Worth the money!

Llove0321 January 16, 2023

I really like the feel of the keyboard. The initial set up was super easy and I haven't had any issues since purchased (mid December 2022). Typically use for streaming videos/movies, checking emails, and online shopping. I haven't had any lagging in the system.

Not all great, but not bad either

Julie April 26, 2020

Comes with Microsoft Windows 10S which only allows MS apps (from the MS store) to be loaded and uses Microsoft Edge browser. I successfully switched off of S mode and was able to bring in the apps I prefer to work with. According to HP, general set up will take about 2 hours and may need you to reach out to HP Help. Setup is not as easy as it should be. It comes with apps which Microsoft believes you should have and getting them replaced is not a simple or quick task for general users. Replacing MS Edge takes some effort as well. Seems everything is put together to make sure you use Microsoft only and other programs cannot or will not play well with Microsoft Windows 10S. My laptop had no sound, although the programs were supposedly loaded; files where empty. I had to contact HP, they immediately told me to remove 2 program files, and replace them via a download link they sent me which corrected the issue. After you're done setting up your laptop I highly recommend you look for updates. There are a ton of updates that need to be loaded which you are not made aware of. After updating recheck your settings. I found the privacy settings I setup went back to default which allows the collection of your information on how you use your laptop. Runs slower than expected. Crashed a few times during updates. A bit heavier than other 14' laptops, this one weighs in at 3.1 pounds. Top is strong and doesn't flex when open. 13-1/4” W x 8-7/8” D x 5/8” thick closed size. There are 3 USB ports on the side, a full-size HDMI port, and SD card slot. You will only have about 30 gigabytes of usable storage on this laptop since Windows uses about 32 gigabytes. You cannot play most games on this laptop. I tested its battery life by running the laptop with email, Word, and YouTube open but not necessarily running all the time. Battery was run down after 6 ½ hrs. It took just about 2 hours to fully recharge the battery. Battery life will depend on individual use. If you're happy using only Microsoft programs and Microsoft Edge for light use, this computer should be fine, in that case I would recommend it. If there are certain programs you are wanting to install and run, check the requirements of the program to this laptops processor, resolution, and storage space to make sure it can handle it. This is a nice laptop for school, or travel, nothing fancy about it, and not expensive.

Slow. Microsoft S mode is impossible to get around

BuckeyeRebel April 24, 2020

I really wanted to like this laptop. It was pretty and pink and a manageable size. Unfortunately, the setup took so long because you have to suffer through Cortana and then you also have to figure out how to disable Microsoft s mode. This means that you have to give up your phone number and an email and do an email verification. To the extent that you have the patience to be successful with that part then you still have to get to an acceptable browser in my case I wasn't patient enough to wait for the workaround so I used Microsoft edge. I accessed my Gmail account. The computer is frustratingly slow. Then I looked at the specs and realized it has the exact same processing power as my cell phone. In fact I think it may have less. I can't see a reasonable use for this computer in my house. This might be suitable for a teen preteen who is just beginning to work with computers and word processing, but if you need more than that this is not the computer for you.

the computer is junk. I didn't even get a chance to add any photos or files to it at all and its already having storage issues. i get that it comes with a 64gb storage and only 4gb of ram but the manufacturer as well as the software developer should really not use the storage the programs that are installed by them from the storage available to the consumer. The 64gb of storage on this computer literally full from just manufacturers pre-installed software. There's no room for anything else and even that leaves the computer running slow, freezing and closing tabs on its own. i got this computer so i could study for and take my GED classes and i was completely robbed. I can study when each subject requires multiple tabs to be open i the computer can't handle that much at once. i looked up how to add additional storage to it and google told me i could install an SD card and just leave it inserted into the computer since this model comes with the SD slot. i paid another $50 for an SD card that i have no use for and of course i threw away the packaging to both so i can't return it.

Laptop

megan February 6, 2024

This is awful! I purchased this as a Christmas present for my daughter to help get her school work completed easier than using the iPad. Worked great first week and then started become slower. Now after a month, everytime you get on the internet it makes you wait 10-15 mins per page and you can't get anything done on it. Going to attempt to take this back but it's been over 30 days.

Paid for New - Received Used

RMcKee March 29, 2024

I purchased 2 of these computers - one for my brother and one for my husband. My husband didn't want to set up a new computer so I set this one aside - Someone Somewhere always needs a computer. Today, well after the possible return date - I opened the computer to set it up to be used. Only to find out that it was a previously used unit. The box was sealed, you wouldn't know it was used until you opened it. The cord was not "new" coiled, the computer was not "new" wrapped in plastic - in fact the computer was covered in greasy fingerprints and opening it - there were food crumbs all over in the keyboard. And to top it all off - it was asking for a password for someone named charles196011 - I would not recommend purchasing any boxed products from Walmart because there can be no expectation of buying new and receiving new.

Horrible

Trishila July 2, 2023

I was so hopeful that this would be a good deal but it was not. The computer would power on, but only after hitting the power button several times. Then once it powered on couldn't get into the settings hardly. Once I did get everything set in the setting I tried to open the web browser, and it took forever for it to open. Once it did open it wouldn't acknowledge that I was typing for a few minutes, and then it took about 10 minutes before it would connect to the page I was looking for. I went to return it, and bc it was purchased online (I spree purchase, but store pick-up), I couldn't get a cash refund bc I had purchased with a credit card. That wouldn't have been a problem normally, but I was in my way to purchase a new computer from Best Buy, and needed the cash for it today. I had the receipt, it was purchased on my Walmart account, and with a card that was in my name.. I will never buy anything like this from Walmart again.
