Looks and works great!

Randi June 7, 2020

I am thrilled to review the HP 15.6 i3 TOUCH 8GB/256GB LAPTOP. It is a sleek looking device with a matte cover which doesn’t show fingerprints, a small issue to be sure, but one that bothers me about my black laptop. It is easy to carry and fits right into an average tote or laptop bag. The screen is a generous 15” diagonally and produces a clear picture. The touch screen is a great feature, making it convenient to move from window to window very quickly. The keys are large and raised, making them easy to use. I type by touch and rarely look at the keys while typing, however, I do need to search for function keys from time to time. That becomes a problem because the typeface identifying the keys is gray while the laptop tray background is silver, which isn’t enough of a distinction for me. It slows me down, although I’m sure it won’t be long before I become familiar as to where the functions I use most are located. The trackpad is slightly recessed and very responsive; it doesn’t take a heavy touch to navigate a page. That said, I still prefer to use a mouse, which does not come with this laptop, but may be easily purchased most anywhere inexpensively. The caps lock key has a light, but the number lock and shift keys do not. The sound of the speakers is really excellent. I was listening to music while working and found that it plays true to the song; it’s a clean sound with no distortion even when turned up to a high volume. I used the system’s camera and microphone for a conference call and found them to be quite suitable. The unit charges quickly and the battery power has lasted as much as 8 hours of straight web surfing and word-processing. Finally, I was genuinely surprised by how much software came preloaded on this device. It was suggested by an IT specialist friend that I uninstall all that I was certain I wouldn’t ever need on order to save space, which was easy enough to do. Overall, I am so pleased with the HP 15.6 i3 Touch 8GB/256GB Laptop. I feel certain that I will have years of satisfying home computing ahead of me and I recommend this laptop for others like me who use it for correspondence, email, web surfing, photo sharing and other social media functions.

Lightweight and Powerful!

Richard May 13, 2020

I have a pc, a smartphone and a tablet and decided it was time for a laptop. I ordered the HP 15.6 i3 8GB/256GB laptop in silver and now I understand why everyone has a laptop. The HP 15-dy1031wm is so slim and lightweight and I was able to set it up easily by syncing it with my other PC on my home's wi-fi network. The connection speed is amazing! I have to access a wi-fi router through a cinderblock wall when I am on the patio and the HP 15-dy1031wm connects fast and keeeps a strong connection. There are many apps included with the HP 15-dy1031wm and it makes the transition from using my pc at home and at the office to using the laptop virtually seamless. It was simple to set up and use right out of the box. I had to allow the laptop to do numerous updates over the first few days, but it was up to speed in no time. The built-in camera and video camera create decent video and photo images, but not great (I expect little from a built-in camera so that isn't a big issue). The audio quality using the built-in microphone is somewhat sensitive to background noise and you must speak rather loudly. Overall I am really pleased with the speed, storage capacity and flexibility of the HP15-dy1031wm laptop. Oh and the silver finish is beautiful!

A useful laptop.

Tawnarue June 1, 2020

I received the HP 15.6 i3 8GB/256GB LAPTOP in silver. I just love this laptop. I was using a 6 year old laptop previously, so this was definitely an upgrade. The pros are: 1. Very lightweight and so very thin! 2. The keyboard is so smooth. I love the feel and the sound the keys make when I type. I also love having the 10 key on the side. 3. It's very fast. My old dinosaur laptop was sooooo slow. This laptop is super fast. 4. The screen is big and almost fills up the the whole top part. 5. The speakers work pretty good. Cons: 1. It needs a separate volume keys. I don't like having to hit 3 separate keys just to turn the sound up, down or muted. 2. Needs more than 2 USB slots. I use an external mouse, which uses up one slot and I have 2 other devices I need plugged in. So 1 more USB slot would be sufficient. 3. I did not like having S Mode on this. I felt extremely limited. I had to look up how to remove it, and did it within a day. All in all, the pros beat the cons. I really love this laptop. I would recommend. The price of it isn't too shabby either.

Affordable luxury laptop

Arrowcatcher May 13, 2020

Where do I begin. First, it comes with Windows 10 in S Mode. For flexibility, I easily switched to full Windows Home in seconds with a few clicks. To do a benchmark, I installed PassMark PT and InSSIDer. Astonishing performance for an inexpensive laptop. Overall PassMark figure is 3433 with the CPU at 6223, and the amazingly fast 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD clocks in at 16525 – the fastest I’ve ever measured in any computer. Laptop feels zippy. The WiFi radio tests extremely sensitive, meaning your wireless connection will always be as good as it can be. The energy efficient design runs very cool. It comes without annoying bloatware and has a bright display. I prefer to set the power button to do a full shutdown rather than sleep when turning off, especially since this fast laptop fully boots up in seconds. Has a full number pad. Has two standard USB 3.1 jacks and one USB 3.1 Type C. For pointing, you can use the full touch screen, the touchpad, or a conventional/wireless mouse – your choice. It weighs 3.5 lbs. (1.6 kg) on my postal scale. Narrow screen bezel keeps the machine compact. The battery charged from 20% to 100% in about 2 hours. Microsoft 365 is installed as a trial. I already have an M365 subscription, so it picked that up instantly and set up 1TB OneDrive for backup and extra storage. The speaker audio is very good for a laptop and can play quite loud. The camera is adequate but a little noisy in lower light. When first started up, it updated Windows automatically from Microsoft, so allow it to do that, and you’ll be freshly current. It has the latest Windows Security, so extra malware protection is generally not required. Be sure to turn on Windows ClearType so that on-screen text looks smoother – don’t know why that isn’t a Windows default. I think this is the best laptop value you can find and will surely please everyone but serious gamers. HP is a good major brand, and they deliberately designed an excellent affordable laptop.

I absolutely love this laptop. I love the touchscreen. It is super fast and it has all the current updates. It is super easy to use and set up. It has a large amount of GB. I love lots of storage and this laptop has it. It is very lightweight to carry around with you if need be. Overall I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

Very happy with this HP!

cmward May 17, 2020

This HP laptop is making me very happy. It has a 15.6 HD display, intel Core i3, 8 GB of Storage and 8 GB of system memory. It also has an HD webcam, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and of course includes Windows 10 Home in S Mode. I need to mention that it also has USB C and USB A ports. This is a beautiful laptop! It was very easy to set up. It had step by step instructions on the monitor which is very nice for some of us who have a limited knowledge of computer systems. Because I have a Google account, I was able to have immediate access to all my information including passwords. I also have my files backed up in Google One Drive (gives you 5GB free). I was able to get all of my files transferred to my new laptop. I really want to remind people how important it is to have your laptop/computer/phone backed up. Otherwise, you risk losing everything. You can lose all your files, documents and photos! I really like the bigger 15.3 inch screen on this laptop. As the years pass, it seems like the screens on my electronics are getting smaller and smaller. Either that or my eyesight is getting worse. Ugh. I love not having problems seeing things on my screen, especially when it comes to shopping! It makes it so much easier. I also like the fact that it is an HP brand. I have had, in the past, an HP personal computer and laptop, and they have always been very reliable and I have always been very satisfied

Very Nice Laptop

Gene May 13, 2020

I received this HP Laptop, 15.6 i3 TOUCH 8GB/256GB LAPTOP-SILVER from Walmart Spark Review to test and review. First of all, I really like the weight of the laptop. It is very light. Not much heavier than the average tablet. It looks smaller than 15 inch, but it is the way it is designed with more screen than plastic. I also like the full featured keyboard with a numbers keypad. It comes with Windows 10 S in which I changed in setup because I like other programs other than just Microsoft programs. Straight Windows 10 for me. I do miss the CD/DVD drive, but I can use an external via USB if necessary. I also like very much, the SSD. I only wish it were larger, but it will do. It is very fast compared to HDD. At the present, I don't need the USB-C but it could be needed later. I would personally prefer 3 USB's instead of the 2 plus the C. The display is very sharp. My wife loves it because she plays her games without lag. The initial setup is fairly easy. Has voice assistance. The card reader works well. One problem I would redesign is the power supply inlet. It is too close to the back edge and will be easily damaged. It's also too close to the USB ports. HDMI port is also nice on this unit. Over all, I like this laptop very much and would recommend it for the average consumer. I hope this review helps someone with a purchase decision.

Love this laptop for daily streaming and browsing

JRader May 28, 2020

The laptop runs well. It is pretty light so I can take it almost anywhere. The screen is big and I had no issues with the display. The start-up and set up of the laptop was easy, fast, and better than I expected. You can increase the RAM in the laptop if you want. It's open-source so you can get upgraded ram and put it in. However, the current 8 GN is enough for me for daily streaming and browsing capabilities. I do not use it for anything else. I use my Macbook Pro for when I need to deal with spreadsheets, have multiple tabs open, etc. for work. The speakers are pretty loud as well, but I mainly listen to it with my wireless headphones. Wifi is good too and connects easily. Keyboard feels nice. Overall, it is a great starter laptop and the price point is worth it. I am very happy with it. I think it'll last a few years as well. I highly recommend this laptop for simple uses. The specs on the website are accurate as well. I would look at that thoroughly if you're unsure if this laptop is the right fit for you.

Great system for a little bit of everything

Kelly May 25, 2020

I've never owned an HP computer so I was pleasantly surprised to find out they function this well. This laptop is perfect for a back to school computer because of the functionality and the low price point. It comes with the basic power cord and instructions but Cortana talks you right through the setup within minutes. It's literally plug and play straight out of the box. It doesn't have huge memory but it still has plenty to do reports and write papers. It has decent graphics and can easily play games but not super intensive games unless you play on lower settings. This system is perfect for a back to school gift or giving to grandparents that are just starting out on computers. It's fairly fast, very lightweight, versatile and it has good enough stats for your everyday basic needs.

Trash, battery is old or defective.

Italo April 29, 2026

Just trash!! I bought this laptop and a protection plan. The description says it's brand new and it arrived today, so I opened and everything looked good and new. I followed the steps that came with the item: plug it first (because it says it has some charge on the battery, but it's recommended) and set my account and everything to start using it, but when I looked at the battery icon on the screen, I noticed that it wasn't charging but it was plugged to power and there's power at home. So I ran a test with the HP support system, and their response was that the battery needs to be replaced due to the PC and battery age is no longer covered by my HP Warranty. So... it is NOT NEW!!!! I'm returning this product and I'm expecting a full refund!
