For all the techie people this unit does Not have all the bells and whistles that they look for but for me who surfs the web, works with MS office and is not that big into face time and programs like that, it works for me ! I do really like the keyboard which is standard and has a number pad on the right side like a calculator !
THE SCREEN IS EASY TO READ. KEYBOARD MAKES TYPING EASIER AND NOT TOO SMALL. HP MAKES SETTING UP EASIER . THINGS DON'T GET UNDER THE KEYS. IT'S MAKES LIFE EASIER TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH OTHERS BECAUSE I'M BEDRIDDEN WITH MS. I DIDN'T KNOW WHETHER I WANTED TO TRY IT OVER THE INTERET. I HAD GONE INTO WALMART CLOSE TO ME. THEY NEVER HAD THIS MODEL THERE TO SEE. I DECIDED TO TRY IT AND I WAS PREPARED TO LET YOU KNOW IF I WASN'T HAPPY. I AM ELATED TO TELL YOU I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE HP 17.3"SCREEN LAPTOP.
This is a wonderful computer. Very large screen and it helps to see what you are doing better. I had purchased a number of computers from Walmart. com. This was a good purchase and I am sure my friend will enjoy it. The computer is very quick and responsive. The large screen makes it a pleasure to navigate the web. I may have to get me one too. My friend loves it.
This computer is SOOOO fantastic! Where do I start? It was SUPER easy to import my photos from my old laptop to this one. I just uploaded them to my Dropbox, installed Dropbox on my new laptop and then just copied the files onto my computer. You can also back up all your photos to the Dropbox or Icloud. You can also sync your Microsoft account too. Windows 10 was a very MINOR adjustment, MUCH better than Windows 8. It has the familiar "Start" menu, but also has the new tiles and apps as well. I don't constantly go back to the start screen on accident like I did w Windows 8. Microsoft Edge is the default internet browser, but I prefer Google Chrome, as it has all my bookmarks saved. Chrome was super easy to download as well, and of course, all my bookmarks were there too. I have no idea about Microsoft Edge, I have never used it before. You can create a user account for family and friends, just like on any other computer. The very first day I got this computer, it ran a little slow, but I think that was bc of all the updates that had to be installed. Now it runs fine, no lag or anything. It comes w McAfee for the anti-virus/security, but I prefer Norton. Norton always provides exceptional customer service and this was no different. They remotely removed McAfee from my laptop and installed Norton w no issues. I have an Iphone, and syncing my Iphone to my computer was super easy. I just hooked the cable up to the computer, a little box popped up saying my device was not recognized, then it asked me to install Itunes, so I did. It walked me thru the instructions step by step, had no problems whatsoever. I don't really download music, I use Pandora and Spotify, so I have no idea how the music stuff works. It also has a notifications sidebar which is really neat. You can choose which notifications you wanna receive, everything from Facebook to updates that need to be installed on your computer. I like that feature, it's really handy. There's also the app store that is kinda like a smaller version of Google Play or the Apple App Store. It doesn't have the variety that Google or Apple does, but it's still pretty neat. I have Evernote on my Iphone, and I also downloaded the app to my laptop. I love the fact that it wirelessly syncs from my Iphone to my laptop. It comes pre-installed w a variety of different apps, but it's very easy to uninstall the ones you don't want. It does have a built in webcam that works really well. I have used it on several occasions. I don't even need to plug a headset in, I just turn it on and start talking. The graphics on the webcam were nice, crisp and clear. It was not fuzzy or pixelated at all. I like that it doesn't have a "function lock" button on it. Instead it has a row of dedicated keys above the numbers that you use. It's nice to be able to turn the volume up or down w out having to wonder if the function lock is on. I took it over to my best friend's on Christmas and I played Christmas carols in the kitchen, but it was loud enough to hear in his bedroom. I use this computer on my wifi, and have had no problems connecting or staying connected to the internet. It's very light, portable, and easy to use. I love the screen, it has AMAZING graphics! I have had NO problems w this computer since the day I got it. I love my new laptop, and would definitely order another one of the same again. It is a great computer and definitely well worth every penny. Ordering and paying was so easy and secure. It shipped directly to the store, I went and picked it up w no problems. It came earlier than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I have ordered from Walmart.com lots of times and will continue to do so in the future.
this is a great laptop, $20 cheaper in store i work at home and this is fast enough also i like the keyboard and the power cord plugs in the laptop easy and moved good (my last laptop the power cord bends and needed replaced) great deal with a little bigger screen
Took me awhile to get this set up so I could use it, I am visually impaired and I needed to make arrangements for a tech to go through and verify that the computer was in good running order. Delete all of the garbage that is loaded for one to BUY, when you get a new computer and load in my anti-virus protection. They were impressed with the computer and the amount paid for it. Next I had my son set it up for my personal use, with the browser I wanted, with my email account, a text speak program and so on. Time wise this took about 2 weeks. I have been using the computer for a few days now and the only issue is Windows 10. This is not a user-friendly program for the visually impaired or for someone my age. So I downloaded a program called Classic Shell, I did this with Window 8 and wow what a difference it makes. You can set up the start menu like that of Window 7 and it is more user-friendly for not only me but many people. This computer feels substantial when you pick it up, not like a cheap toy, which some laptops feel like to me. I like the texture of the inside and the mouse pad. I do wish it had left and right 'click' buttons, rather than using the mouse to aid this function. The only other issue that I am having is the stiffness of the keys and the mouse, I know it time I will break them in but I miss the feel of my old well-worn keyboard and mouse. But for those minor issues with this computer I would give it a 5, I believe it is worth the investmentI and I have referred it to others as a good buy. I just hope this one lasts as well as my last HP.
I got the computer after the initial laptop that I wanted was sold out on Black Friday. Furthermore, this computer doesn't seem like a very popular or well liked because I had trouble finding reviews for it. After finding and reading the reviews, I have realized that my laptop is acting the same manner . I haven't decided quit yet if I am going to return it, but the main characteristics of the laptop are pushing me to due so are the large size of the computer (accessories are hard to find, not convenient to travel with) and the slow speed (the 4gb memory is not enough). Other than theses thing the computer has a beautiful screen and the design on the computer is good.
I purchased this on black Friday at the store for $299.00 it's just ok,I basically bought it because of the screen size but I'm just not impressed not 1 bit anyway if u purchase it GET INSURANCE trust me it's worth it..my last yr blk fri laptop went out on me so luckily I had insurance..
I will be returning this laptop back. I was trying to figure out why my computer was running slow and there's a lag to it. Then I went on the website to view the reviews and notice I'm not the only one that had that problem. It's not worth the money, I will be getting something else.
This computer is JUNK. I ordered on line and it came one day sooner than scheduled. Set up went super smooth. The second day it crashed requiring a total reload of windows. A few days later it became difficult to turn on. When the switch was depressed, either nothing would happen or the unit would turn on only to shut down about two seconds later. After going thru this for ten times or so, it would turn on and work fine, until you used the touch pad. That became non-responsive on most touches, requiring three of four taps to operate properly. After three days of this, I returned it to my local store and received credit. However, Wal Mart will not refund shipping charges. Everyone there was very courteous and helpful. I also found out that the care plan I purchased on line (2 years) that cost $93, would have cost $48 had I purchased the computer in the store. Bottom line, don,t waste your time and money. If you do buy, by all means buy the care plan.
