I received a shipment of a HP Pavilion Power Notebook with following features: 15.6" Full HD IPS Display (2 million Pixels for Crystal Clear Visuals); Windows 10 Operating System; Wi-Fi / Bluetooth; USB Type C Port; Intel i5 Quad Core Processor; 1TB Hard Drive; 12 Gigabyte System Memory (RAM); AMD Radeon Graphics Card; Backlit Keyboard. It does not have an optical drive. There are more ports than I have on my previous laptop: Security Cable Slot, (3) USB ports; USB Port C; Headphone / Microphone Jack; SD Card Slot; HDMI Port. My Power Notebook's casing is black (aka "onyx"). I take care when I open it - I balance it like a book - holding the screen portion and lowering the keyboard. The setup is easy and relatively quick: Put the power cord together; Insert it into the power connector and an outlet; Push the power button on; Answer onscreen queries; Follow any instructions that are given throughout. The wireless setup is included as part of the setup process. I found the Cortana voice feature helpful. There was no need for me to worry about a viral attack after setup was finished because McAfee anti-virus works right out-of-the-box. I did a few more things before I started really using the Power Notebook. The first thing was to use my multi-device anti-virus subscription and follow the download/installation instructions available at their website to replace McAfee on this Power Notebook. Next was to connect my wireless printer. I called the printer company's expert and friendly customer service department at the number provided in my manual. They guided me through downloading the drivers, software and the rest of the wireless printer set up. Finally was the fun of adding my favorite applications including lots of game apps. I noticed that One Drive populated some apps (During setup I opted to make all my devices able to access files, etc. from anywhere.) This is considered a gaming PC with its graphics, quad core processor, 150 watt AC adapter power cord, IPS display, powerful audio, and backlit keyboard. The backlit keyboard is like a special effect - the casing, keyboard and keys are black but each key is edged in white. I can darken the room and tap the back-light key "on". The whole keyboard area then lights up underneath the keys and becomes my light source - easy to see and use. I could go unplugged for a maximum of just over 10 hours with 90% recharge in 90 minutes. I have not had to recharge yet since to-date my power notebook is always plugged in at home. The shipping carton is sturdy, heavy gauge cardboard and can be re-used for storing or shipping it. I unpacked the Notebook itself from a thick, rigid cell packing foam that kept the laptop from being damaged during shipment - it is well protected within the carton and space is provided at one end for the power cord. The carton also details product information. This HP Pavilion Power Notebook provides solid and fast performance and especially enhances all the fun apps/games. I enjoy all the features that HP built into this product and love the look, speed, display and performance.
This is one great laptop for the money! It is so fast and powerful that there are references on the internet calling it a gaming laptop. Besides being a great performing laptop, one of my favorite features is the backlit keyboard. It can be toggled off with the F5 key if not needed. Another thing that is not publicized much about this model is that it has a Bang & Olufsen (B&O) tuned audio system. If you don't recognize that brand, they produce high end consumer products, mostly audio related. HP gives you a simple Bass and Treble control and dialog clarity settings in the B&O controls. And, if you click on Equalizer in that same window, you have a 10 Band equalizer with default and custom options or you can choose among 10 additional presets such as Rock, Club, Classical, etc. And if you want great graphics to go along with the great audio, the HP Onyx Blizzard Ci 5 come with AMD Radeon RX 550 graphics using 2GB of dedicated memory. All of this is driven by an Intel Core i5 CPU @ 2.50GHz and 12GB of ram memory. It come with Windows 10 Home. The PROs of this laptop, other than those already mentioned, include a fast charge battery system which HP states a 90 minute charge time. Also, they state a 10 hour run time. I have not had the chance yet to test each of these claims. Just for reference, the charging cord plugs in on the right side of this laptop. A 1 TB hard drive. The 15.6 inch diagonal Full HD IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080) is awesome. . Also, there is an offer for 25GB of free space with Dropbox for 1 year. Laptop weighs just under 5 lbs. It has 1 HDMI port and 1 USB Type-C Port. There is a headphone/microphone combo port. Also, 1 multi-format SD media card reader and a RJ45 jack port. The whole laptop is a cool looking flat black on the outside and inside. It has 802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Wi-Fi. There is virtually no fan noise. The CONs of this laptop are that it is not touch screen. There is no CD/DVD drive. It only has 3 USB ports. No SSD drive. All in all, this is the best laptop that I have ever owned or been provided by work. It comes with 1 year limited hardware warranty and 90 day phone support (from date of purchase).
First of all, I'll confess I'm not as techy as I'd care to admit. Honestly, let's just say I'm not from the younger generation, many of whom are well acquainted with the latest technology. I don't think I'll share what kind of dinosaur laptop this HP Pavilion Notebook 15.6" is replacing, it's too embarrassing. Let's just say Windows 10 is great. It didn't take me too long to get acquainted to this computer. I really do like it!! When I initially opened it, I knew I loved the size and really, really like the backlit keyboard. The keys on the keyboard are much more comfortable to use than on other laptops I've used. They aren't so scrunched together and raised just enough from the base to be easy to use (less typographical errors). Both the audio and visual aspects are clear and well defined. The WiFi connection, Intel processor, 1 TB hard drive, and 12 GB memory are wonderfully functional and "roomy" as it comes to computers. Thus far, the gaming performance has been great. The system does seem to warm up quite a bit, but manageable. I've read that the internal construction was designed so that heating would be a minimal problem, so I'm not overly concerned. I'm glad that I now have this computer and anticipate enjoying using it in the days ahead.
I love how easy it is to use and the graphics are wonderful great for games
I am a heavy multitasker, and this laptop has been speedy so far! I immediately tested out simultaneously running Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Bay ROES, and Wix.com web editor, and this computer powered through running all of those tasks. It is exactly what I needed!
warranty info setup is hard to do. maybe on purpose? FULL of BLOATware. Also, sound goes off and have to reboot. good speed for price.
I bought this laptop based on the specs and also the 5-star reviews on Walmart website. I wish I could return it but it already passed the return time frame. After 1.5 hours, the battery is down to 55%. The fan runs all the time and it is loud. The display is not that great either. The fonts on the screen is not as clear as my 4-year-old laptop. I paid more than $700 for this laptop and it works like a $300 crap. I am deeply disappointed with this laptop and do not recommend anyone to purchase it. Stay away from this product!
I ordered this laptop and the substituted a notebook. I was very displeased. Will not order online again.
A very bad laptop, do NOT buy. The fan is super loud and after using for 2hrs, the battery is 54%. Not a good quality laptop. And the graphics are not so good either, and HDD sucks. Takes like 3 minutes to start up and things load sloooow.
