Excellent Clarity of Printing

Carm56 October 5, 2025

I am very happy with the HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-one Printer. It produces clear black or colour print or pictures. I love the duplex feature. It was very easy to install on my HO Laptop. The scanning feature will be great for us.

Great Scanner and Printer

Happy HP Printer User June 17, 2026

The HP Smart Tank 7301 is a very quick and smooth Scanner. I'm pleasantly surprised the 7301 is so good at scanning documents. I'd thought as with most printer/scanner setups the scan feature would be very slow and cumbersome so, I've been holding off scanning anything till the end of the day in order not to slow me down. The first time was a great experience. I would like HP to come up with a better looking HP Smart app to run their printers/scanners. Other than the scanning abilities, this is a very good solid printer and the ink tanks are great for a small office that has to print a lot of documents.

Good printer

Dannie July 7, 2026

Instruction for install are fairly good, Only thing after loading the ink and it printed test page I was unaware that the scanner needs it placed to the back of the glass and not the front for it to do the alignment process. But print is crip and it tied into our home network without and problems.

Setup of the HP smart tank 7301 printer

Edwardgl January 15, 2026

Setup was straight forward and easy with the HP smart software. I was up and running in less than 30 minutes.

Expensive and not the best.

Daniel_32625 April 6, 2026

Set up didn't go smoothly - I had plugged in a network cable, that seemed to completely derail the wireless/network capability. I had to uninstall and set up twice already. The printer loses network connectivity often (that could be Windows 11, but my other HP printer (older laserjet) doesn't lose connection (although it doesn't like "waking up" and has to be power-cycled). The new printer doesn't like waking up either - I often have to unplug it for a few seconds to reboot to get it to work. Other than that, it prints nicely. There's no way to SCAN from the device itself, one must use the Smart app which is a bit cumbersome. Scanning is very, very slow (not like my 12+ year old SnapScan...which is lightning fast). Copying, obviously, is slow because the scanner is slow. The scanner also has a tendency to skew whatever it scans instead of keeping it straight. If I wasn't very skilled in Windows and hardware, this device would have gone back to HP the day I unpacked it. It is not user friendly.

MODEL HAS DEFECTIVE LID?

Ann January 6, 2026

I'm having multiple issues with this printer. First, it's extremely difficult to make a copy using the glass screen because the lid has a defect. The lid catches, makes a popping noise, and the “Lid Open” warning light is very hard to clear since the lid will not close properly. I also purchased an extra warranty/protection plan, and although it appears on my receipt, it does not show up under my Protection Plans on Walmart's website. I know the plan is valid, but I have no idea where to find it if I ever need to use it. Walmart's site seems to have several different sections for protection plans, and only some of my covered items appear there. The rest are missing, and I don't know where they're being stored or how to access them. On top of that, Walmart's Purchase History section is extremely difficult to navigate. When you need to find an item, you have to scroll page by page, and if a purchase has multiple hidden items (shown with a “ ” sign), you have to open “View Details” every time. If the item you're looking for isn't there, you have to back out and start scrolling all over again. If there's an easier way to search or filter purchases, Walmart should make that clear to users — because the current setup is time‑consuming and frustrating.

Don't buy this

Dennis May 12, 2026

Reviews and negatives about this printer suggested difficulties connecting to wifi. They were correct. HP support could not get it connect either even after allowing them to access my computer. Their answer was to subscribe to their $60 service to continue further. I will be returning this thing tomorrow after wasting 10hrs of my day.

I couldn't get it to turn on and stay on. Power cord would not stay connected. Didn't get to try printer at all. Tried to get a new power. cord but was told I had to return printer.

Review of the Smart Tank 7301 This printer is absolutely dreadful. It's plagued with connectivity issues that make it nearly unusable. If you manage to connect it to your phone, it won't link to your computer, and if you get it on your computer, it won't sync with your phone. Every attempt to set it up is a nightmare: it spits out pages non-stop, wasting both ink and paper, and never completes the configuration process. In short, this printer is a complete disaster.
