For all the techie people this unit does Not have all the bells and whistles that they look for but for me who surfs the web, works with MS office and is not that big into face time and programs like that, it works for me ! I do really like the keyboard which is standard and has a number pad on the right side like a calculator !
This computer is SOOOO fantastic! Where do I start? It was SUPER easy to import my photos from my old laptop to this one. I just uploaded them to my Dropbox, installed Dropbox on my new laptop and then just copied the files onto my computer. You can also back up all your photos to the Dropbox or Icloud. You can also sync your Microsoft account too. Windows 10 was a very MINOR adjustment, MUCH better than Windows 8. It has the familiar "Start" menu, but also has the new tiles and apps as well. I don't constantly go back to the start screen on accident like I did w Windows 8. Microsoft Edge is the default internet browser, but I prefer Google Chrome, as it has all my bookmarks saved. Chrome was super easy to download as well, and of course, all my bookmarks were there too. I have no idea about Microsoft Edge, I have never used it before. You can create a user account for family and friends, just like on any other computer. The very first day I got this computer, it ran a little slow, but I think that was bc of all the updates that had to be installed. Now it runs fine, no lag or anything. It comes w McAfee for the anti-virus/security, but I prefer Norton. Norton always provides exceptional customer service and this was no different. They remotely removed McAfee from my laptop and installed Norton w no issues. I have an Iphone, and syncing my Iphone to my computer was super easy. I just hooked the cable up to the computer, a little box popped up saying my device was not recognized, then it asked me to install Itunes, so I did. It walked me thru the instructions step by step, had no problems whatsoever. I don't really download music, I use Pandora and Spotify, so I have no idea how the music stuff works. It also has a notifications sidebar which is really neat. You can choose which notifications you wanna receive, everything from Facebook to updates that need to be installed on your computer. I like that feature, it's really handy. There's also the app store that is kinda like a smaller version of Google Play or the Apple App Store. It doesn't have the variety that Google or Apple does, but it's still pretty neat. I have Evernote on my Iphone, and I also downloaded the app to my laptop. I love the fact that it wirelessly syncs from my Iphone to my laptop. It comes pre-installed w a variety of different apps, but it's very easy to uninstall the ones you don't want. It does have a built in webcam that works really well. I have used it on several occasions. I don't even need to plug a headset in, I just turn it on and start talking. The graphics on the webcam were nice, crisp and clear. It was not fuzzy or pixelated at all. I like that it doesn't have a "function lock" button on it. Instead it has a row of dedicated keys above the numbers that you use. It's nice to be able to turn the volume up or down w out having to wonder if the function lock is on. I took it over to my best friend's on Christmas and I played Christmas carols in the kitchen, but it was loud enough to hear in his bedroom. I use this computer on my wifi, and have had no problems connecting or staying connected to the internet. It's very light, portable, and easy to use. I love the screen, it has AMAZING graphics! I have had NO problems w this computer since the day I got it. I love my new laptop, and would definitely order another one of the same again. It is a great computer and definitely well worth every penny. Ordering and paying was so easy and secure. It shipped directly to the store, I went and picked it up w no problems. It came earlier than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I have ordered from Walmart.com lots of times and will continue to do so in the future.
this is a great laptop, $20 cheaper in store i work at home and this is fast enough also i like the keyboard and the power cord plugs in the laptop easy and moved good (my last laptop the power cord bends and needed replaced) great deal with a little bigger screen
I don't know either why there are so many bad reviews, but this laptop works fine. Although I have noticed the fingerprints that are left after handling it. But you can wipe them off with a piece of tissue. They are not permanent!! I will admit, at first it did seem a little slow. However, as I kept using it, it got faster. I guess it was starting up. As with any budget laptop, hard-core gaming doesn't work very well. But if you are the type of person that just wants to do homework, stream, and light gaming this computer is great. Once again the only complaint that I have with this laptop is the fingerprints, but this is a easy fix.
Took me awhile to get this set up so I could use it, I am visually impaired and I needed to make arrangements for a tech to go through and verify that the computer was in good running order. Delete all of the garbage that is loaded for one to BUY, when you get a new computer and load in my anti-virus protection. They were impressed with the computer and the amount paid for it. Next I had my son set it up for my personal use, with the browser I wanted, with my email account, a text speak program and so on. Time wise this took about 2 weeks. I have been using the computer for a few days now and the only issue is Windows 10. This is not a user-friendly program for the visually impaired or for someone my age. So I downloaded a program called Classic Shell, I did this with Window 8 and wow what a difference it makes. You can set up the start menu like that of Window 7 and it is more user-friendly for not only me but many people. This computer feels substantial when you pick it up, not like a cheap toy, which some laptops feel like to me. I like the texture of the inside and the mouse pad. I do wish it had left and right 'click' buttons, rather than using the mouse to aid this function. The only other issue that I am having is the stiffness of the keys and the mouse, I know it time I will break them in but I miss the feel of my old well-worn keyboard and mouse. But for those minor issues with this computer I would give it a 5, I believe it is worth the investmentI and I have referred it to others as a good buy. I just hope this one lasts as well as my last HP.
This computer is ok for normal use, email web. I bought this for my wife who plays sims 3 and it works fine. The processor is comparable to an intel i3. It is slower on some things but the video is better with the radeon video card. For a budget computer it is ok and much better than anything with the celeron processors.
I purchased this on black Friday at the store for $299.00 it's just ok,I basically bought it because of the screen size but I'm just not impressed not 1 bit anyway if u purchase it GET INSURANCE trust me it's worth it..my last yr blk fri laptop went out on me so luckily I had insurance..
I got the computer after the initial laptop that I wanted was sold out on Black Friday. Furthermore, this computer doesn't seem like a very popular or well liked because I had trouble finding reviews for it. After finding and reading the reviews, I have realized that my laptop is acting the same manner . I haven't decided quit yet if I am going to return it, but the main characteristics of the laptop are pushing me to due so are the large size of the computer (accessories are hard to find, not convenient to travel with) and the slow speed (the 4gb memory is not enough). Other than theses thing the computer has a beautiful screen and the design on the computer is good.
I don't have high standards for computers, I honestly don't. I don't need something crazy fast and I don't do any gaming; I just need something that runs decently, is reliable, and has a good webcam/mic as I like to keep in touch with friends and family out of state. That's literally all I ask for. My last laptop was an HP and it lasted me 7 years straight with daily use and lots of abuse along the way. (Like that one time it got flung off the conveyor belt at the airport when it was in my checked luggage, or that one time I sat on it). It still worked like a charm, until its premature overheating death in summer '15. (RIP little guy). When I purchased this as its successor, I was immediately disappointed. It felt cheap. The whole thing. It was made of this weird thin matte plastic, that collected finger print grease. And it was slow. And the webcam was AWFUL. I know a lot of models don't specify, but this is a really low quality VGA camera, not an hd cam. The mic is also tiny and barely records sound. Needless to say, skyping my family was out of the question. I figured I should try and make it work, and was even in the process of purchasing an external HD webcam/mic to use with it, but unfortunately the computer had other plans. It shut off (like completely off) on me twice. As in, I was in the middle of something and it just went dead. I figured it was too early to have issues with it when I'd only had it for two days! I bought it on a Friday and took it back to the store on Sunday morning. I purchased another HP model with an hd camera that I hope will better meet my needs.
I will be returning this laptop back. I was trying to figure out why my computer was running slow and there's a lag to it. Then I went on the website to view the reviews and notice I'm not the only one that had that problem. It's not worth the money, I will be getting something else.
