I had some great, solid and reliable tape measures for years, but they got damaged. I picked up a three pack from another online retailer and they were just utter junk. Cheap and flimsy. I don't use tape measures often, so I didn't want to dump a lot of money. Found these. Looked solid, so thought I'd give them a try. Definitely a huge leap above the cheap ones they will be replacing. Locks in place well, button works well to release it.
Great tape measure for woodworking. The auto lock allows me to take measurements more quickly without needing to lock the tape in place or having it retract accidentally. The controlled retraction makes it easier for more delicate tasks with woodworking.
Works well. For the price compared to a "pro brand" from the orange and white store, I'm really happy with it. It retracts smoothly and a overall solid tape measure. Its survived a few drops and my toddler's obsession with playing with tape measures.
I've owned a few of these and I'm about to use the incentive from this review to purchase another one haha. I've had Craftsman, Milwaukee, Stanley, etc. tape measures, and these Hart tape measures are by far my favorite for many reasons.
It definitely is exactly what you need in a tape measure. Easily retractable, measures long distances. Grip and lock works as expected. Overall good quality.
This auto-lock tape measure is amazing, never going back to a regular tape measure. The size is comfortable in the hand and along with the auto-lock and grip making it an essential part of my toolbox. Also includes measuring fraction markings!
I have probably bought 4 or 5 of these tape measures because they not only look nice, but they are solid, affordable and I love the auto lock feature. I literally will not buy any other brand.
wanted a good tape measure to carry in a smaller tool bag and this really ''fit the bill''.
I bought this for times when I need to measure (replacing shower curtains etc.). It is sturdy; heavier than I expected, but not too heavy to use (my age 70 ); measuring tape holds straight out for at least 4 feet. The only suggestion I have is to "PULSE" the rewind (blue) button when retracting. I have NOT tried holding the rewind button down because it rewinds quickly. 4-star rating is because I DON'T know much about tape measures/no "diy" person here.
while the auto lock feature works well, the tape is thin and creases easily. that's the biggest issue. after half a day using it, it developed a crease. it's not made for heavy usage. for the occasional user, it's good. for the price, it's a good reserve to have, but that's it. it's not tool belt worthy.
