I have been using H&R Block Premium software for several years - switching from a competitor that led me down the wrong path one year. It's easy to follow and explain things I may not understand. Recommend to anyone doing their own taxes. Thank you!
Great product. Easy to understand and navigate. Only one issue. Please make the screen where you can increase the size of the workspace. You can increase the font size but the software won't let you scroll left to right. The only option is to decrease the font size. Overall great product and will buy again.
Overall this is a very good program, although the features seem to be pared down on each iteration, especially those that use to be included, e.g. comparisons of this return with national central tendencies, that were very useful. And, too much increased dependence on references to IRS dics rather than H&R digesting these documents for common, plain English summations.
Overall, I am happy with the software. However, it would be nice if... 1) It identified downloaded 1099s as duplicates. This happens if not all forms are available the first time you download. When you re-download you get a duplicate. 2) There was a single page where you could review all the forms you entered. Maybe even allow entry on that page and let the software put them into the interview pages.
I have been using HR Block for several years now, and overall it is easy to use and thorough, and I am quite satisfied. I do have one quibble: for the last 3 years I have not been able to file online, no matter how many corrections I make or what I do. There seems to be a glitch. My friend also had trouble efiling. We have given up and printed and mailed, but that is not very convenient. I hope HRBlock can fix the glitches soon.
I have used this software to prepare my taxes for at least a decade. It is easy to use and exhaustively finds ways to acquaint the user with tax-saving measures. It is one of the best tax preparation software in the market. I am not giving it five stars because there is one thing I am unable to do with it: I am unable to enter my Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) Investments in the H&R Block Premium Tax Software. I have to go to to a private tax preparer to do so every. This means I file two separate taxes, one electronically and the other by mail. What an inconvenience! It is time to include Form 8997 for filing QOF investments in your PREMIUM software.
For tax software that you can still download and install locally on your computer, one is limited to H & R Block and TT. I abandoned TT after 25+ years in protest of its ill-timed shutdown of its tax deduction website in the middle of the tax year before tax returns were prepared. That left me to try H & R Block Premium 2025 on my Mac. What I liked: great help system that is to the point and actually helpful; a clean, uncluttered interface even if it is somewhat spartan in design; I like function over looks any day. What I didn't like: Compared to TT, H & R Block just felt unpolished. Too many tasks had to be manually done compared to the "press a button and it does all the steps for you" approach in TT. For example, printing file copies of tax returns in TT takes care of giving you a clean, easily documented copy of your federal AND state returns in TT. In H & Block, you get a serviceable federal copy without a good coversheet but where's the state return? Oh, you've got to figure out how to get that one on your own. TT takes care of it all in one place. Now that I've found third-party deduction tracking websites that I can use throughout the year that pretty much replicate TT's ItsD, I'll switch back to TT for my 2026 tax returns and save the headache of using H & R Block and figuring out how to do a lot of steps myself.
Overall I love the ease of use, but I can't stand the online version. I prefer the version that allows you to download an executable. I completed our full tax returns with the online version and when I got to checkout I needed a code and I never received one so I was unable to checkout. I had to go to my parents house and use their software and re-do our tax return all over
I was very upset to learn that your financial reports download option was no longer part of your software package. I've been using your product many years. And for this not to be mentioned until I had to call the help line. And no offer of a credit or discount I thought was in poor taste. I am very sad about how you treat customers.
so many bugs fund in "married filling separately", i have been using H&R for long time, but first time filling separately, it failed, i cannot do efile because some issues cannot be resolved and have to mail my return, very bad. and no support i can use, the so called AI chat is completely useless.
