Humminbird 4119401 Helix 7 CHIRP LCD Display

I've been running a H7 MSI G4N on my Old Town fishing kayaks for the last 4 years and it's changed the way I fish from a kayak. The MEGA side imaging is crystal clear and lets me creep along the sandflats searching for cruising stripers. No more blind casting and picking apart water for hours, I can simply cruise around and find the structure, bait balls, or fish I'm looking for. Install was super easy, and so far it's held up exceptionally well in the harsh saltwater environments of the Maine coast.

This unit is fine, but Humminbird really needs to step up their PC software game. As for the Helix unit: The screen is very clear and bright and the SI and DI seem to work decently well for the price. The stock basemap isn't very good leading the buyer to purchase additional basemaps for safe navigation. My biggest issue isn't so much the Helix unit itself but Humminbird's lack of support for good data management. I have a lot of data that I cannot all keep on my Helix unit at once so I am constantly needing to update my data via importing and exporting .hwr files. Since these files are proprietary, the user must use Humminbird PC software to manage these files. Humminbird PC is only compatible with windows based computers and not even silicon Macs running a windows Virtual machine. To me this is a huge flaw as I am now faced with needing to purchase a PC just to update my waypoints? Converting files using third party software doesn't always work due to the way .hwr files are structured. I seriously hope Humminbird addresses this lack of software/data compatibility.

One of the best fish finders out there, only thing is that the maps has buoys and rocks in the wrong spots
