Humminbird 602008-1 LakeMaster Premium VX - Southeast V1

This will sound like a sales pitch but this lake contour info is 100% putting more bass in my boat. Using this info in concert with the OBN app on my app to pre scout locations is a TOTAL GAME CHANGER! I am no longer a hopeful bank beater searching for a bite. Yes, that still happens but in controlled situations and locations of my choosing based on contour info as it relates to likely fish behavior.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got the lake maps and upgraded the Minn Kota control head so I could follow the contours. The Lake Master data provides the confidence to let the Humminbird do the driving so I can focus on fishing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just started using this. The contours are not very precise on my home lake. I anticipate it will be more useful for new waters. You can pop it in & it works. Plenty of user configurability if you want it. It plays well with Autochart maps of lake segments on either the control head or the Zeroline card. I expect to get plenty of use out of it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a Humminbird Apex 16 because of the Minnkota autopilot interface. Unfortunately, that capability is only as good as the Humminbird database, which is lacking. While the Lakemaster Premium V1 boasts contours in 1 foot increments, that is not the case for the lake that I fish regularly. The database for Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas has 3 foot interval contour lines. This would not be a problem if they were accurate. Even with the water level offset feature, there are wildly inaccurate contours and entire pinnacles that are missing. Compared to the highly accurate Garmin database with 1 foot contours, I would characterize the chart plotter portion of the Apex as a very pretty Fisher Price navigation aid. Not well suited for trolling for walleyes where precise contours allow precise bait and lure presentation.
