This is a good product but I did notice a change in quality. It has a lot of stem tops where tomatoes were attached to the vine in it. I don't care for that so I had to sift through the tomatoes and throw those out. I don't use that part of tomato. Their quality has gone down.
Makes life so easy. Hunts Diced Tomatoes are the answer to easy, delicious cooking: I use this product on oven toasted baguette with chopped garlic, and olive oil. A large tray disappears in minutes. This is a family favorite. Tastes as if one had picked the ripe tomatoes from the garden, diced them and baked them. If you don't tell they are canned; no one needs to know.
I frequently heat up a can of Hunt's Diced Tomatoes (with added granulated garlic and a tablespoon of EVOO) in my favorite soup cup and eat it with 15 Crunchmaster gluten-free crackers. There are barely any calories in the two items, and yet they're a very satisfying, tummy-warming snack when you need/want to eat something, but you're just not sure what you want. I always find this combination very filling and satisfying. In addition, canned tomatoes (just like fresh, in-season ones) are low in calories and packed with Vitamin C and fiber, and canned (as opposed to fresh) tomatoes are an excellent source of the antioxidant lycopene, shown to help lower the risk of heart disease, prostate cancer and macular degeneration (poor eyesight as you get older).
I like to shop at the other Bigger Box store, since Sam's Club doesn't have one on Maui, but since the fires, the other place has been busier and their supply level has been dwindling. Thank God for Sam's Club online! The price for this was very competitive and free shipping with Plus means I get it delivered to my door within a few days! The only thing I don't like is my canned goods always arrive outside of their box, meaning either they are being packed as broken or damaged items or the delivery box they come in are being thrown around by the shipper. The product, however, has been usable so not a huge deal yet.
I got these in the same shipment with a box of LeSeur peas. The peas were all BADLY damaged. However, these fared much better. Only had slight dents in a couple of cans. Not great, but certainly not something to throw away. (Can't say the same for the peas.) Bottom line: I don' t know if it's because of the holidays (more items to ship) or not, but getting damaged items is not the norm with my Sam's orders. You might really want to think about going shopping in person for now. As a chronic pain patient I rarely get to go to the stores any more so I rely on shipping (although expecting better results than with this order).
I bought this thinking it would be an 8 pack of cans (as pictured). Nope. It was 8 individual cans, and every, single one dented (some worse than others), like they were just thrown into the box. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
These came in with several other items. The box was torn open at the end and every can in the box was bent. This was not done in shipping, it left Sam's warehouse this way because nothing else in the box was damaged and it was a large shipment. Sam's is making good on the order by replacing it.
A case of diced tomatoes shipped to my home arrived with all the cans dented except for two. Insufficient cushion in the box to avoid shifting & the box was probably tossed around causing dents in the cans. Sam's needs to improve when packaging goods for shipment.
I had these delivered because they weren't available at the Sam's club I was at. They arrived on time but several were dented. They were not packaged well. So unfortunately I had to return them. I was disappointed that I had to go to another club to purchase.
If I could, I would give this no stars. The box was open, and all but one of the cans were in dismal condition (very dented, label missing); and even that one can had a dent. This was a full price item. Unfortunately, this is a habit of Sam's club shipping. Many canned items arrive dented, as though Sam's uses ship-to customers to unload items that would never be able to be sold off the shelf.
