Wow-This is really a nice lite saw with a lot of punch for a 16" Bar. I love all the special features too, like the see thru fuel gauge on the end, the easily removable top cover, and the one bar nut brake/ clutch cover, easy access for chain changes. Husqvarna you have made another wonderful product, Thanks again.
The saw came with a 16 inch bar, 0.325 pitch, 0.5 Gauge, 66 Drive links completed mounted (965 16 75-01). Its is a small saw which is easy to handle. The tilted upper handle helps to hold it in natural position. The rear handle has a grey inlay making handling even better. The bar is attached with one screw (through the clutch cover) to the saw body. For this small saw it is ok. The upper cover can be removed with quick-release holders, a nice feature in this price class. The engine starts easy with some pulls. Cutting in different positions goes easy and with the safety chain the saw comes with its also safe. My friend uses this saw for occasional firewood cutting and felling of minor trees. Bigger trees we fell together with my bigger Husky 61. Allover I recommend this saw for occational users which are not trained on chain saws. But as all chain saws it must be handled with respect, not with fear.
I use this saw a lot. Have had it for 7 years. Works great, cuts good, smooth operation. Starts great, had to write this review after reading the others. I have never had a problem with this saw. It's great little saw. For big boy trees then you need a big boy saw, but for 95 percent of the population this saw is more than they need. Again, it starts and runs great.
I bought the 435 slightly used from a chainsaw tech and I've been happy with it so far. I was worried about the negative reviews of new saws not starting warm, but I haven't had those problems. The tech explained that the saws are set for sea level and need to be adjusted once before using depending on your elevation. May need another adjustment as the saw breaks in. This one is set now and runs flawlessly. It starts well cold, and one pull when warm. I'm using this saw in Calgary at 1140 m (3740 ft) elevation. I chose the 435 over the MS250 because of ergonomics. The 435 has a much better feel in the hands for me, and is better balanced to. I'm running 15" and 18" bars.
I visited this page to get a spec on the saw, noticed the highly negative reviews, and felt compelled to add my voice. I have had my Husqvarna 435 for two years now. My experience with this saw has been very positive. Before buying this saw my experience with Husqy products was limited to much larger XP-series saws, and I found the very small, light 435 a delight to deal with. The ergonomics are excellent and I have found the saw extremely reliable and very durable. The combo choke-stop took a second to get used to, but I now like it better than the older two-control setup. I have never run ethanol fuel in it and have never had an issue starting it. On my saw I prime it, pull it choked once or maybe twice until I hear it fire, then unchoke and pull again and I'm off and running, exactly as the manual says the saw should start. My saw did require some fairly extensive carburetor adjustment from the factory (annoyingly, this requires specialty tools, as well all CARB-compliant devices), and re-adjustment of the idle for a second time after a break-in period. Once these tweaks were made it runs great, in both warm and extremely cold conditions. The saw is quite minimalist in terms of features, some of which are definitely drawbacks compared to other larger Husqvarana saws. The absence of an adjustable oiler and the minimal, fixed position bumper spikes stand out. It is also small, which may be a pro or a con depending on your application. With a 16" bar it zings right along even buried, but cutting speed on bigger stuff (not to mention depth) leaves much to be desired, and the narrow chain dulls quickly. If you are using it for felling or repetitive bucking, especially in material over 12", you will likely find it undersized. For other tasks that call for nimbleness over sheer power it is ideal, and as a homeowner tool for occasional brush clearing, limbing, or light-duty firewood service, this saw is exceptional. It's great for woodworking/carpentry applications, too.
If you follow the starting instructions this saw starts on the first or second pull. Once warm, follow the instructions again. Pull out the choke all the way, push in to the half-way point (which initiates the high idle) and pull sharply (again usually once or twice. I use this saw for felling small trees, limbing and cutting smaller wood. The weight is great and the power is great. This saw often gets a bad rap - read the instruction manual, keep it sharp, use non-ethanol high test gas, Husqvarna mixing oil and enjoy this small, powerful wood cutting partner.
I'm not gonna lie, I was really excited when my wife came home with this for me. I took it right out of the box and went to start it up but it gave me some trouble. Yes, it's not the easiest to start and yes sometimes if you put it down or turn it off you have to play with the choke or give it a pump to get it going again. Is it impossible and worth the effort though? I cut through two entire trees of white oak that were roughly 20" round while my buddies 20" Poulan Pro had nothing but issues. In my opinion there are better models out there, but this chainsaw will definitely do the job when you need it to.
As the title says great for the occasional mid size tree and branch. Mine has a problem staying running after first started, like it has a very long warm up period, or its idled down too low and won't stay running until it's gotten good and hot. Died multiple times right when it went through the end of the cut. No sure if this is made to be that way so when you cut all the way through it doesn't over Rev or not but very annoying on top when it restarts you have to let it sit and idle a while or hold constant slight throttle. Other than those two annoying issues it was great for the price and power. Didn't use much fuel at all with all the work I've used it for (only use Husqvarna fuel also), and it doesn't glob up bar oil like a lot of Poulans that in my opinion over oil. It cut through multiple different media's but the chain did not like pressure treated lumber when cutting a porch apart. Oak trees, and crape myrtles were a snap. Would recommend, and buy again if needed. Just have to get the idle fixed and sharpen the blade, that pressure treated stuff dulled it bad the first day I bought it.
I have been through 2 bars, 3 chains. It has always ran great, but the oiler is junk. I found out from a parts schematic that it did not have all the parts. It was missing the oil tank breather hole, screen, and duckbill check. I bought these parts along with the other oiler parts, drilled the hole and the only oil that comes out is when it's not running. Instripped it down the other day and the carrier bushing was toast. I went to Husqvarna hoping for something good. No luck. So I just went and bought a name brand competitor
Purchase this saw as gift for my wife. We had the local dealer start it up and it had gear oil under it when we did this and we were told they spilled gear oil on it when filling it. got the saw home and it sat for a month before we had a chance to use it and I had placed it on a paper sack to keep the residual spill from getting on anything but to my surprise the chain oil never stopped leaking. So I took a brand new saw back to the dealer and they would not replace it and said they would have a tech look at it. Brand new saw and now we have to wait another two weeks?
