The hydrocortisone cream dermatologists give as part of the post chemical peel skin care is a mainstream cream with a F ton of nasty stuff. I threw that tube out in no time. Bless the dermatologists offering this crap. Yes, I know the chemical peel ingredients are probably not natural, but after you get one of these the skin is very sensitive and exposed, as the top layer of skin has been dissolved off. During this sensitive werk of healing for the face, the skin is itchy. This natural cream is a wonderful alternative and works better. Benadryl's itch stopping gel is cooling and also a great addition to the skin care routine following a CP, when the skin feels itchy from the skin shedding process. Great topical analgesic. The dermatologist suggested petroleum jelly around the eyes and mouth. Gross! That's a petroleum byproduct. Why put that on my exposed new layer of skin? No thanks. Solution? Egyptian Magic or straight up shea butter.
I am using this to regain a proper circadian rhythm after adrenal dysregulation which followed thyroid dysregulation caused by dental mercury poisoning . This is the only cortisone creme without multiple toxic ingredients. I use it 4X/day in gradually decreasing amounts.
For vegetarians, not many products cortisone etc. products for skin are available. In fact, if you're looking for vegetarian/vegan hydrocortisone for skin, there's no brand other than Procure and De La Cruz. I was prescribed a stronger steroid, methylprednisolone, but hydrocortisone worked just excellent. I haven't tried De La Cruz, but Procure is full of natural ingredients. As always, I suggest that you don't use a steroid cream like this one before being convinced that a normal cream won't work, but if you're told so by a doctor or are surprised at how they didn't help you, Procure is the way to go whether or not you're vegetarian or vegan.
This product seems to work well for mild itching. I use it for occasional dry, itchy legs, but I do not have any more serious conditions like eczema, so I'm not sure if it would work well for that. It's a small tube, but perfect size for my needs. The cream feels light and moisturizing. Not much scent. Good product!
Used on side of arms, elbows and nape. The calendula is quite soothing. Combined with the cortisone, it created a creamy ( but not greasy) barrier. i used it twice a day ( applied sparingly) and could see results after two days- the area was less inflames, and had begin to smooth over.
The stuff that my doctors have been prescribing to me are so full of terrible stuff, and have the added benefit of not working at all, so thought to try this stuff. It has no scent, is a good composition, and importantly seems to have worked better than anything I got from a pharmacy.
I am so happy I found a cruelty free hydrocortisone cream. I just wish it didn't have coconut oil or olive oil in it, they break me out so it makes it that I can't use these on my face, if your skin is fine with those then this is perfect for you. Ive used this for bug bites on my body and this helps with them. My boyfriend also got a rash in his armpit and this helped so much to clear it up. So this is effective for the body and feels nice on the skin.
the texture of this is a little lightweight and thin, which is both a pro and a con depending on the state of your skin. i do like that it absorbs fast though, but i wish they made a true "cream" or ointment as well. but most importantly, FINALLY a medication that has more helpful, and less harmful ingredients. wish they made other OTC products as well! it's so hard to find medications that don't have a ton of crap and toxic stuff in them. also, i received a tube that looks completely different than the one pictured.
I love applying calendula on skin irritations. This product delivers. Very nice on skin, no irritation and didn't feel greasy. Good to use until you can see a dermatologist. The cortisone is a plus in a such a nice cream. Will use again because I like natural alternatives to conventional medications.
I purchased this because it looks to be more on the natural side than most drug store hydrocortisone creams. There are still quite a few unrecognizable ingredients, but no petroleum or parabens. So far it is working well for my extremely itchy, candida caused skin rash. It does sometimes take some time and/or a second application. I also find personally that if I run the rash area under very cold or very hot water it overstimulates the area and stops the itching long enough for products applied afterward to soak in & get to work.
