This pump works great and so inexpensive can't go wrong with this one
This works very well. It is a slow but steady flow.
The hose is lengthy and come packed wound compactly. When you unwind the hose, watch for kinks or places where the hose is flattened. Once addressed, the pump easily gets the flow going. The weight of the saucer keeps water on my tarp centered for it to be siphoned.
This is my third winter cover siphon pump from In The Swim. It is perfect for me. We have a lot of rain where I live so I use it a lot. Not only do I use it all winter but also all summer on my solar cover. It is very simple to use and lasts a long time. Eventually, after a couple of years the hose becomes brittle, as expected. I don't know what I would do without this pump.
I didn't' give it a 5 stars due to the packaging and labeling. The product was mailed in its original box with the label placed over the instructions on the box. I googled the how to and it works great.
Seems like it is made out of the cheapest plastic possible, the very small hose is thin and can collapse like a bent straw. The pump is also made from thin, cheap plastic, and takes several pumps to prime the siphon. But once you can get it started, it drains. It takes quite a bit of time to drain because the diameter of the hose is small. It would be nice if this design was improved with a larger diameter hose and bigger pump, but for now it does what it's designed to do - drain. For the price, this is the easiest way to manage rainwater on the pool cover. One of the best purchases for our pool.
The pumping device is too fragile and will crack during the cold winter season and the tube bends too easily and restricts the flow of water in the winter especially if ice develops Device should be drained after each use and kept indoors if not in use during the winter.
I have had several of these suction drains over the years to drain water off of the pool cover, and they are pretty much all the same, including this one with one exception: The manufacturer (Chinese) decided to provide a a length of very soft vinyl hose with the drain that was kinked in several places upon arrival and is so soft that as soon as you put any suction to it, it collapses, not just in the kinked areas, but also in random areas rendering the "suction drain" useless. If you don't mind running out to the hardware store to secure a length of replacement hose, the item can be made usable, if not steer clear
Does not work. I've tried to make it work numerous times. It will be returned.
Doesn't work. Period
