Hypertough battery powered tools are fantastic. I use them daily in industrial jobs and they keep up with the high dollar brightly colored competitors AND they are far more convenient to purchase, or have delivered to your jobsite within an hour, or return and replace of you have any issues. Good torque on this machine. No stopping it on carpentry applications. It’s not an automotive tool though, it can’t break lug nuts like your pneumatic impact, but it’s great for residential projects. I’ve built a 3 car - car port and she-shed stewing the every thing together with the hypertough impact driver.
Was extremely surprised to see HT releasing a hydraulic impact driver this week for $65 as a kit vs 200 tool only from the red or yellow brands. Upon unboxing first thing you will notice is the size - this is like a subcompact size and at just over 2lbs with the battery it feels really nice in the hand - not sure if the existing BL impact has this, but feels like they added rubber to the handle, grip is really nice. As notes it has 4 modes (1-3 plus auto) which work as expected. LED light on the base of the tool is nice and bright, about 10s timer on it. This is definitely a hydraulic driver, when driving fasteners it's nice and quiet as there is no hammer mechanism in the head. Despite that I didn't feel it just any power, drove several size fasteners into pine with no trouble though will be testing it more later. Still really surprised HT released this, outside of Milwaukee and DeWalt I don't see hydraulic impact drivers, so for this to pop up for 65 as a kit was great. Amazing value when comparing to the other brands where you are paying 200 for one. Oh and yes it is a quick insert collet, so 1 handed bit changes are a breeze. Would definitely recommend, HTs power tool lineup seems to still be growing. Added a couple pictures of it next to a Hercules BL impact driver which is already one of the smallest ones around... the HT is a touch shorter and definitely slimmer.
Compact design that works great in tight spaces. Battery life is reliable, and the quick bit changes make workflow smooth. The hydraulic mechanism noticeably reduces noise. Overall, this impact driver is a great option for people who want strong, quiet performance. The price for value is great. Highly recommended for everyday projects.
Perfect for me. I don't do big building projects, but it's perfect for the odd things I need to do around the house. Great size and easy to use.
Beats the competition by all metrics! Next best competitor cost 400% more! Highly recommend it however, wasn't enough torque for my application.
Goes perfect with my high-torque one. I like the compact charger this comes with, it's more portable.
I’ve been using this hydraulic driver for a bit now, and it’s been pretty reliable. The operation is quieter than I expected, and the compact size makes it easy to handle. The built-in light is surprisingly useful when working in dim corners👍
Great Impact Driver. works great around the house for various projects. Does a good job and works smoothly.
Nobody was more excited to buy a hyper tough hydraulic impact driver than me ! Especially for the ridiculously low price ( whole Kit with battery charger less than competitors battery alone ) I bought before there was a single YouTube review of these bad boys going up in smoke . I compared with my brand name impact driver and seeing as this is rated at more torque I exprected this to be similar … it is on small like less than 2” screws , but as soon as the going gets tough this little guy struggles , it quits and you have to keep squeezing the trigger to get it to move a little more :( at first I thought it was the 2.0 battery which looks nice btw so I swapped it for a 4.0 battery and it did the same , any medium or large fastener and forget about it I could smell the plastic getting hot and if the sun wasn’t out I probably could have seen a little smoke as it smelled bad with larger than 2” fasteners. For larger fasteners once the initial speed was close to other drills , it slows down and the other drills finish like 10-25 seconds faster this thing really slows down under load . The grip is awesome ! It feels light weight and balanced in your hand . The light is good brightness and For the Low price with a battery it’s something I would keep around just because I have other impact drivers to do the normal heavy stuff . The feel in your hand is very balanced I like it a lot . The battery life on tiny screws is pretty good as well and it’s for sure quieter than a regular impact driver. I hope the issues with stopping under load and smoking are just a bad first batch and the later models get that fixed because even with its flaws I take the time to go get it when I have tiny screws. It’s just not practical when you need to do what other impact drivers do. At this point I can’t recommend buying it unless you only plan to drive short screws into soft wood and drywall then maybe.
I gotta give it to Hypertough, this is a surprisingly well made impact driver. the issue is with the hydraulic system. it's quiet, it's smoother, but it's weak. between that and the fact that it turns out that your brain actually uses the hammering noise from a regular impact as tactile feedback and if you work with them a lot you want your impact to make noise and talk to you so you know how she's doing. this impact is your well dressed deaf cousin that you traded for babysitting your sibling because it was something new to do and you wanted to see if your cousin was as capable even though she's deaf.
