Starts easily and every time so far. (4 months in) I guess it will continue to do so if the fuel is properly treated and run dry every winter. been a wonderful edger. I looked and looked for a few months before deciding on this one after being let down by several other electric models and cordless models. this little guy gets it done!
I wanted a gas edger for some time now, this little machine was in the price range that I wanted to stick to. I was delivered a couple of days after I ordered it "liked that" I assembled it in less than 10 minutes. I took a few minutes to get it started, but it runs and works like a champ.
Nice edger, works well, easy to use. Only reason for not getting 5 stars, the blade came installed backwards, cutting edge opposite of direction of rotation, so blunt edge was leading edge of rotation. Shapened edge should be leading edge of rotation.
hard to Start due to need to hold starting trigger and pull rope at the same Time and also holding mechine against the floor so it won't mover while you are pulling.
I loved this unit! It was very easy to put together, mostly just the handle. The body comes in one piece. You have to buy a quart of oil ( uses about 3 oz). I don't know why the manufacturer doesn't include a mini bottle along with the edger. It started very easily and ran great. I used it for about 2 hours, it edged beautifully with one major drawback. After using it I checked the oil and the plastic dipstick had started to melt inside the housing. In fact the tip was missing! That is the reason for the low rating, because it was just a matter of time before that small piece of broken off plastic would shut down the engine and ruin the edger. Why do you make a great little unit like this and then use a cheap plastic dipstick! I would buy again if they replace that with metal.
I only rated the assembly low because a part was missing. We had it put together and then realized one of the handle bolts was missing. I contacted Walmart chat just asking for one part. I did not want to return it. They would not do it. I have used a piece from my old edger. The piece missing is pictured.
The frame is extremely flimsy. I had to stick a piece of cardboard under the motor to support it and keep the whole thing from vibrating because the motor is mounted to the flimsy frame on the side with the blade. The spot welds don't look very confidence inspiring for longevity. The lever for the choke and run position is very fragile and thin plastic so that will probably break quickly as well. The front wheel is bent, don't want to forget to mention that. The design is good, the quality and choice of materials is very poor.
I am on my second unit now, the first one leaked the oil out during first use and all over my garage floor. The second one seemed fine the very first time I used it, but now refuses to start. I've followed the instructions properly, but I've pulled on this thing for several days now and it refuses to start the motor at all.
My husband tried for 20 minutes to get this thing started after someone easy assembly and filling it with the appropriate liquids and he pulled and pulled and pulled and would not get it started, but once it barely started my husband tried for 20 minutes to get this thing started after someone easy assembly and filling it with the appropriate liquids and he pulled and pulled then it ran for a little bit, but he was not pleased with the way it worked then it ran for a little bit, but he was not pleased with the way it worked on as an edger and we want to return it
As far easy to assemble good thedesign good easy to use good I hope I got a defective one when it got hot it quite running and would not start for 3-4 hours i returned it and ordered another one
