Hyper Tough Black 150 PSI Oil-Free Pancake Air Compressor 6 gal

I used it right away for a couple different projects I have been putting off for some time and it worked great out of the box. I also bought a Bluebird hose reel and I'm impressed by the quality. A 3/8” hose came on the reel and it is a great combination. I definitely recommend and would buy it again.

I used this air compressor for a small basement renovation I've been doing. It's kept up great with my little nailer and I've been really happy with the performance. I also recently lent it out to my nephew who has his own little business building planter boxes and other woodworking projects. He also used it to run a little nailer and it worked great.

I have a few uses for a small air compressor that involve car tires, bike tires, sports balls and blowing off my driveway and in the garage. This easy use unit weighs about 30 pounds and has a convenient carry handle. I bought a hose/attachment kit for $10 at a local supply company that will inflate tires and balls and includes a blow-off nozzle. Takes up about 1 square foot in my garage and runs without too much noise and is really easy to use with quick-connects. This is a not a high-pressure unit for large tools like jackhammers. It will run most any small air-powered tool.

This compressor fits my needs for a highly portable unit. It is very easy to carry with the included handle and the cord is easily secured with the tabs. The six foot cord makes for easy use and placement. This does not come with any hoses or attachments. I found the compressor fairly light to carry around and store. The gauges are easy to read and the power switch a great size for operation. The regulator is easy to read and adjust and there are two attachments points for hoses. This is a handy unit for around the house.

First thing I noticed is it's pretty quiet - at least quieter than my older pancake compressor. The main thing I like is the quick connect hose receivers. There are two stainless steel receivers that work smoothly and easily locked-in when I plug in a hose. I also like that it doesn't walk or creep across floor when the motor is running, thanks to the feet material. The output (hose) pressure is adjustable and I keep it set as low as I can to get the job done and that reduses motor run friquency (save you money on electric bill).

This review is for the Hyper Tough 6 Gallon Oil Free Pancake Air Compressor. I got it in black. I believe it also comes in red. It is rated for a maximum air pressure of 150 PSI that can be controlled by the regulator. I love the fact that it is oil free, making it more maintenance free than one that requires periodic oiling. Just note that it does not come with an air hose. It has dual outlets allowing for 2 people to connect separate air lines to run 2 tools at the same time. This would make it great for projects like putting roof shingles on where you have more than 1 person working on the job. It has a convenient carry handle and rubber feet to minimize vibration. I have a bigger 30 gallon compressor in my garage, but I wanted to get something that is more mobile so I can put it in my truck and use it for small jobs, as I do maintenance for a local softball and Little League field. I also have a generator in the back of my pickup truck, making it super easy to use this compressor just about anywhere while on the go. I highly recommend this smaller sized compressor for anyone who needs access to a smaller air compressor anywhere the job takes you. It is especially attractive at this price point. 5 stars from me.

This air compressor went out the first day of use. I'm thinking it could've been a defect so I'm going to try it again to see if it hold up next time.

Hypertough usually has pretty good things, but this is not. plugged it in to test. It immediately smoke started pouring out. Smelled like something was burning inside. Could see sparks inside the unit. Unit was about to catch fire. Will be returning this item.
