I'm 73 so at first it was difficult to open the prongs that hold the sandpaper in place but I asked help and after that I was and am able to manage putting sandpaper in place! the sander works great just takes a little effort on your power muscles lol certainly better than using without a holder! elbow grease required!
I walked into Walmart with a broken sanding block and a desperate hope for a replacement. The shelves were as barren as a desert, offering only this one mysterious contraption. I grabbed it, half expecting it to be a decorative paperweight, but the moment I held the handle I felt like I was gripping a tiny, ergonomic dumbbell. The soft-grip feels like a pillow for my palm, yet somehow it also whispers, "I could sand a house and still have energy left for a jog." The construction is surprisingly robust; the stainless steel clamps snap onto wood like a superhero sidekick, holding the sandpaper tighter than my grandma's hug. The design is minimalistic to the point of zen - no flashy colors, just a sleek black body that says, "I mean business, but I'm also friendly." Applying this thing to a piece of pine was a revelation. The sandpaper glides like a figure skater on ice, and the clamps never betray me with a slip. I even tried it on a stubborn piece of oak and watched the dust clouds rise like a tiny sandstorm, while the handle stayed cool and comfortable. In short, this single option at Walmart turned out to be the perfect, all-in-one sanding solution. If you ever find yourself stranded with a busted block, give this marvel a try - it's the only choice you'll ever need.
My father is fixing up his classic camaro and we really enjoyed using it. This hand sander is actually built quite nicely. I find that it holds the sand paper in place very well as the locking clips are strong. Also, the bottom of the sander has a unique rubber design and pattern that keeps a nice evenly distributed pressure of the sandpaper on the surface that you are sanding thus providing an even and smooth finish. Along with all of this, it has a comfortable handle that is centered and rubberized so as to provide both even distribution of pressure on the sanding surface and a nice trip without having to use excessive hand pressure in order to hold onto the sander. Overall, I would recommend this hand sander to anyone to use for whatever they may need it for.
This is as sturdy as it can be. The comfort of sanding is due to the soft grip handle. The wire lifts is a little hard to lift. But that is a good thing because once you put the sandpaper on it's not going anywhere. It will hold on and not move around. I totally recommend this product
When I finish the heavy duty on a project , I like the hand with me for checking spots that need a mite more. Makes it easy!
This is the nicest unnoted sander that I’ve ever used. It’s easy for me to put the sandpaper in it and that says something when I’m 77..
Great hand tool, no complaints at all. Grabbs firmly sand paper. You may consider though Hyper Tough 2-Amp Palm Sander, 1/4 Sheet, Corded, AQ20035G for longer runs, for only $8 bucks more...
Hands Down this is the best jand sander ive ever found. Great grip and a solid bed. Matched with the Gator sanding sheets and its ready to go !
Perfect for times when you prefer to sand by hand. It feels pretty sturdy and with the right sandpaper grit, you get a lot done quickly.
First off, allow me to say I have not used this for an actual project yet. I was just testing it out. But I'm not sure I would like to use it for a prolonged period of time. I have larger than average hands. Not Andre the Giant hands or anything, but larger than average. But the palm rest is too big to be comfortable for me. It my hand just didn't fit around it comfortably. That could be user error. Maybe I am not holding it the right way, but I don't see many other ways to hold it. Also, would it kill makers of products like this to include at least ONE piece of sandpaper with the sander itself? Sometimes the store from which you buy the sander happens to be out of the sandpaper. Then you are out of luck. And worse for the manufacturer, the buyer may choose a different brand. If you want to add the cost of the one piece of paper to the cost of the sander, fine...but include one. Now, I DID choose to give it a marginal recommendation. This is because despite the palm rest not being perfectly comfortable to me, I can see how it could be for someone else. Especially for short jobs, which I assume is what most people buying a manual sander are buying it for. And other than that, it does feel pretty solidly made. The clips hold the paper on nice and tight. They can be a little tricky to open, but once you get the hang of it, it isn't to bad. So, if you need a palm sander, this is not bad. If you are buying it in store, check the feel in your own hand to make sure you can live with it. If you can, then this is not a bad sander at all.
