The Hyper Tough Universal Socket is a fantastic addition to any casual tool collection for the simple reason that it can replace an entire set of standard and metric sockets for everyday jobs. If you run across a stripped, rusted, or "wallered" nut or bolt, this tool handles it with ease. It is cleverly designed to adjust automatically to grip a variety of fastener shapes like hex nuts, wing nuts, square nuts, and even awkward items like eye-screws and rusted hooks. It covers a convenient range of sizes from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch (7mm to 19mm) and includes a 3/8-inch drill adapter so you can drive fasteners quickly with a power drill or a standard ratchet. ​However, it is incredibly important to know that this is not a deep well socket. Because the inside is packed with spring-loaded steel pins that retract to mold around the fastener, there is very little vertical clearance inside the tool. This means if you are trying to loosen a nut that is threaded far down onto a long, protruding bolt or stud, the bolt will hit the back of the pins and prevent the socket from reaching the nut at all. It is best used for shallow applications, loose hardware, or unique jobs. For basic, everyday household tasks, it's a great way to avoid dragging out a massive tool case—just be sure to keep a dedicated set of deep wells (or a universal deep well socket) on hand for those longer bolts!

These universal sockets are a time saver installing and removing bolts that don't require a lot of torque. I've used the socket for removing bolts on car batteries with no issues. I wouldn't try to remove anything that you normally wouldn't try using household cordless drill. Overall worth the price charged.
