I just got this installed and now I'm working on it to write this short review. Pros: -Price, it was the lowest priced 480GB ssd I could find anywhere. -It has a 5 year warranty. -It is made in Taiwan. -It weighs almost nothing that it almost feels like there is nothing in it. -It's nice to go from a 5400rpm drive to and ssd. It's day and night. This is not my first ssd, it's my second. The other is a different brand and also has a 5 year warranty and it's still working so far. Cons: -It seems a bit stingy being 480GB instead of the 500 to 512GB versions. Better than a 120 or 250 at least. Instead of just going over a bit, some manufacturers seem to prefer to go lower. -Being 7mm thick can cause a few minor issues with some brackets. My current laptop has two brackets instead of a single bracket which is held by the plastic piece in the middle. So installing it can be fiddly. Not a killer but just something to note in some cases. I actually 3D printed a plate for drives I could use to make them 9mm in height. You can't even use the 7mm height in some removable brackets since they need to be taller in order for the door to close and push the drive in. I hope manufacturers start adding these plates in case you need one. -There is no backup/transfer software included. So you have to figure that out. -Normally anything purchased online arrives in two days. Due to the corona virus, things have slowed down a bit, so I ordered on friday and I got it the following wednesday. Tracking information sucked. It didn't actually take me to the ontrac site. -Ontrac also sucks, I saw the guy leave the package, on the floor under the mailboxes for anyone to pick up. They noted it was left at front door when it wasn't. The package was also small enough to put in the actual mail box which is what the usps does, but not ontrac. And they lied about it. Notes: -I'll add the youtube videos when I can get those done. So check there for a closer look. I'll update the review later if the system allows, but that's it for now.
good quality nice price
Works perfectly in an old Acer laptop that I wanted to convert from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It is also a great deal that Microsoft did not charge anything for the upgrade of the OS on the new drive. This "drive" allowed me to try out the "freebie" from Microsoft and have the reversion plan of the old Windows 7 drive if the new one would not upgrade or failed. So far, the SSD seems to be significantly faster than the mechanical drive and it was a fun adventure. Yes, it was Windows 10 feature pack 2004 for the new OS installed.
This SSD is lighting fast when I do video editing. I use PowerDirector 16 video editor which will render a 15 minute video in under 2 minutes as compared to a Hard Drive of 17 minutes. It is a work horse. Ideal also for laptop computers. Glad I bought it.
It works well as your standard entry level SSD to drastically speed up an older machine if you don't store a lot of large files or have a library of large games. The standard SATA connector fits almost any machine today and the drive space is adequate for 90+% of standard PC users. Anybody more serious about unlocking their PC's full potential should be looking into an NVMe drive if they can attach one to their laptop/desktop motherboard or use a cheap desktop pci-e to NVMe adapter to add it to a desktop that has an empty pci-e slot.
I am using this drive on an older Dell computer as a home entertainment system connected to the TV. I put Linux Mint OS on it and it works GREAT! Super fast boot and shut down. Lightning fast reaction to apps. Linux boot disc recognized it right away and did the install without any issues. Perfect for my home entertainment system. This is the second SSD by Hyundai I have used. On my Windows machine I used it for video editing. Awesome results.
A truly inexpensive way to increase the speed of your computer system. If used as boot drive the startup time is drastically improved from a minute to less than 15 seconds for mine. Fantastic upgrade solution.
Bought to replace slow mechanical drive in PC. Amazing difference in boot/shutdown time and general performance. Also upgraded to 16GB ram (from 6GB). Completely different machine now.
Replaced old HD with this SSD, went smoothly and works like a charm. Dramatically increased operational speed of my 4 year old desk top.
It installs easily and worked fine in cloning a conventional H.D. using Macrium Reflect. The boot up time went from over a minute to 25 seconds, which is great for a 10 year old desktop. The other operations on the computer seem to be unchanged though. I'm not sure why. I'm still satisfied with the purchase.
