Very flavorful. We had some pasta dish using squid in its black ink in Madrid and it was excellent. Walmart has several brands of squid in its black ink. We haven't tried the other one so I can't compare brands.
If you want to get into tinned seafood but thrown off by the bones/sardines try these. Not very chewy, no bones, and more of a milder flavor (comparing to other types of fish). The smell reminds me of barbecue. The flavor is a little buttery and smoky. Like other reviews mention, there is a decent amount of oil. And the pieces are on the thinner side, but I'd still buy these again.
I use these to make the rice with squid. One cup white rice, two cups water, a tablespoon of olive oil, two cans of the squid along with its ink (it gives the rice flavor and colors it black), three teaspoons capers, about 2 to 3 cloves of garlic finely chopped. After the rice is cooked, I put some Jack Mackerel on top of the rice and some sliced pimientos and sweet peas. Yum!
I love this. You can eat it with spaghetti, rice, salad or by itself. I just add vinegar to it and sprinkle some salt and they're delicious. You can use lemon or lime if you desire by I prefer them with vinegar. My mom was skeptical until she tried them and how she asks me for squid in ink every time she visits. Not to mention the price. It's not expensive so I grab 3 or 4 boxes for the weekend.
Delicioso!!!
Like to add rice and seasonings and cook it with rice.
Just wish pieces was bigger
Delicious pieces of cooked squid in olive oil and their own ink.
Could use spices - Better if in other kind of healthy oils
disgusting - threw it away.
