These can be used for many purposes. I've even wrapped one around a jug of milk in a bag to keep cool for a few hours and it works wonderfully. They refreeze very well. I initially bought to put inside of a work vest for working outside in the summer. Although I haven't sewn the panels in yet to hold the flexi freeze I believe it would work very well.
Bought 3 extra sets of these for the Flexi Freeze Ice Vest for an outdoor project in Singapore where the humidity was too high for evaporative vests to work. These extra sets were kept in a freezer while we wore out the first set and then swapped them as the day progressed since the manufacturer indicated they needed 12 hours to freeze solid. It helps to have a working freezer onsite to freeze them overnight and keep them frozen until needed to swap into a Flexi Freece Ice Vest.
Pushing a lawn mower for 2 1/2 hours in the Southern heat and humidity would be impossible for me without this vest as my ability to tolerate the heat has declined as I've become older. I ordered an extra set of replacement panels that I swap out when the first set melts so that I can finish the grass in one cutting. Thank you FlexiFreeze!
I already have the vest, but a backup set of freezer cubes is always a good idea. I have MS and cannot tolerate temperatures above 75* F. I can be on the boat most mornings without difficulty but as the days heat comes up I need to switch to a fresh and frozen pack. This extends outdoor time to 4 hours with two packs available. Living in Midwest, evaporation cooling devices don't cool due to our humidity.. You end up not just HOT, but HOT and Damp.. so unless you live in Southwest US; I think these are the only product to buy.
I don't really know how well this works but hope it lives up to it's description. My son is a master bee keeper and occasionally has to go get a swarm of bees. The last time they had decided to live in between the siding and plywood of a neighbor's house. It took about 3 or 4 hours in that hot bee suit in this August weather. So, I actually bought it for Greg to try to keep him from over heating. I tried to talk the 16 year old into trying it out while mowing the yard, so we shall see what Keith says.
I have the vest that came with the ice panels, but I bought these extra ones so I can keep a set at work ready for me to grab in the morning when I leave to my construction site.Just a bit of advice, make sure you wear over a shirt that is a little thicker than a regular cotton tshirt because you can start feel the burn of the ice on your skin. Other than that, it's a great product. Definitely does its job.
It keeps me cool but for only about an hour or so, but I have MS and it makes me produce so much heat because I can't sweat. This vest and ice would be great for an average person, it's great for people with MS that are as sensitive to heat as I am. Buy two of them and keep one in a freezer cooler with real ice. It's not good for like a trip to the zoo but short to moderate trips, it's a must have. I can enjoy being outside again.
Although this product is not promoted for as used by people who have suffered traumatic torso injuries, i found that this vest was the ONLY ice product that 1) stayed on and provided ice therapy when in an upright position as well as when lying down. 2) provided long icing times, and 3) allowed for icing of numerous torso injuries simultaneously. I only wish the sides were closed rather than opened so that ice therapy could be delivered to front, back AND sides of torso in the case of various rib fracture locations.
I have NOT used them yet, unable to give adequate review. Like that the frozen part has regular sized ice cubes frozen and not just one chunk of ice, will fit much better to the spot where placed. Wish they were bigger so they could be wrapped around limbs when needed. Will give another review after use if you would like
These ice packs are okay to good. They melt within an hour or two. It does help in the cooling effect of the vest within that time frame. I noticed a couple of the cubes didn't have the same level of fluid (purified water) as the rest, I thought maybe a leak, most likely a manufacturing defect (not a big deal for me). When frozen, all the cubes expand to the same level. When melted, it just adds weight to the vest.
