I purchased the cooler for work. Conducted training outdoors for 8 hours in 105deg weather.I had the cooler in the shade and the inside was 35deg. I wS amazed. I also bought a ecoflow max portable power that is 580 watts. Inside the house the cooler ran for 19 hours. I would love to purchased the bigger cooler but at this time I don't need it.
I had myself convinced that the VL45 was the fridge for me, but was dragging my feet on the purchase, because of some other purchases I needed to make first. I’m glad I did, because when this was released, it was love at first sight. It’s everything I need for my van setup, and I love the multiple lid opening options. My buddy with his Dometic is jealous of that feature, as well as how quit it is. Everything else works exactly as I’d expect, based on the research I’ve done. I have zero regrets, and am sure this will be a great fridge for years to come.
This is the second ICECO I have purchased and have been very pleased with each. The original VL45 works flawlessly, just ended up giving it to my daughter for her Jeep adventures. The upgrades on the Pro are worth it, but there is one thing that makes no sense to me. Why isn't there a basket over the compressor? Short of this, I have no complaints. May look into seeing if a basket can be purchased separately. Unit itself works as advertised. Thanks
Our Iceco VL45ProS maintains a good temperature range (2-3 degrees) of what we set it to. We set ours at 34 degrees and it always maintains between 36-37 degrees. We utilize a 100ah lithium iron phosphate battery to power the unit when it is not connected to shore power or to DC power in my wife’s Jeep when traveling. Once initially cooled down in advance this battery we can easily power the unit for 3-4 days in moderate temps (80-85) before it needs recharging. The VL45 ProS has more than ample capacity for our needs and in hindsight we should have gone with one of the other smaller coolers that Iceco offers. At 52 lbs we do find it a little cumbersome at times. We will probably keep the VL45 ProS for our extended camping trips and purchase one of the smaller JP models for our weekend outings. Hopefully the JP models are just as good as the VL models with respect to temperature consistency and battery efficiency. Overall the VL45 ProS is a solid product.
We just got back from a week of camping at Anza Borrego SP in California, we had the VL45ProS in the back of our pickup truck with the temperature set at 34 degrees. Before the trip I ran the VL45 off of my Goal Zero Yeti1000 power station, I wanted to test the three Battery cutoff levels. All three of the levels cut off at the voltage specified and the fridge worked great. Back to the Camping trip, the fridge worked on 12 volts from the truck and on AC at our camp ground with no issues. Yes the temperature did fluctuate a little but I expected some temperature swing. The only modification was I added heavy duty 1” anti-skid pads to the bottom of the fridge. I replaced the screws from the corner brackets with 1” screws, and now the fridge sets on pads instead of the plastic corner brackets. I purchased the “Everbilt” pads from my local Home Depot. Overall, the fridge is a great value with a nice design and exceeded my expectations, I would recommend this fridge……..
Got mine in May '21. Used it 4 weeks non-stop on my summer road trip, and every weekend since. Not sure why folks complain about the lid gasket -- this fridge is a pure power miser. A single 100 watt solar panel in moderate sun will run the ICECO 24/7.
This unit works amazing! Gets cold fast, doesn't drain truck battery, has kept it's temp in hot conditions. I would never have been able to have enough ice for a multiple day camping trip using coolers the old fashion way. Looking forward to seeing how long my portable back up battery can power the vl45. It seems very efficient!!
Still evaluating but it does not seam to freeze things very well it took 3 day to ice a Nalgene bottle with the ambient temp in the 65d's, and the box set to 20 degrees. The box had 3 frozen cooler packs in with the Nalgene. I expected it to freeze in maybe 24 hours at the most so 3 days was way more.
The good: The fridge is well built, the operation and cooling works wonderfully, the trick lid is fantastic for vehicles with lower rooflines (I have a Subaru Outback) allowing for access without hitting the lid on the roof, and it runs very quiet. The bad: The lid needs a more aggressive gasket, maybe magnetic? The issue is because the lid does not seal all that well the fridge cycles far more often then it should, especially in hot environments (I am in Phoenix.) This should be a simple and cheap fix as a larger or magnetized gasket would seal the lid better requiring far less cycling of the compressor.
Overall the fridge is great I have been using it for 4 weeks straight 2 of which were during a road trip. During the road trip the cooler stayed in the back of my Subaru where temps reached 120 degrees and the fridge had no problem keeping within 5 degree of the 36 degree temp I have it set at. I will say the only issue I have is the rubber gasket on the lid, it is to small and when you open the lid you can see condensation at the top on the inside. Iceco is there a way to purchase a thicker rubber gasket for the lid? If so how and where do we find it. This is the only issue I have with the fridge and it looks like it is going to last a long time.
