I swear my horse attracts ticks more than any other creature and swells up when she has bites. This drawing salve is the best thing I've found to reduce the bite swelling and relieve her un-comfort.
I used it on my skin and it got rid of staph boils like nothing else that is available. Don't know what I would have done without it. Thank you for making this available at Walmart.
I've been using ichthammol on my horses for decades and love what it is able to do. Yes it is sticky, yes it is black, yes it smells funky, but it does wonders for drawing out minor infections and helping with abscesses. Highly recommended.
Fire ants invaded my state decades ago and the most effective commercial growth regulator was removed from market due to the extreme cost of licensing the effective ingredient. The loss makes them very hard to control. When I moved my horse to a new pasture, she fell victim of one of their ant hills while grazing. Her back leg was badly swollen with pustules from hundreds of bites I put a coating of Ichthammol over the bites and loosely wrapped her leg with gauze and stretchy wrap. The next day, the pus was all gone out of the bites and the swelling was gone. Healing was very fast. It has also worked on bumble bee stings. I will not go without this product in my first aid collection.
This salve has been around since I don't know when, and it still beats any of the newer products out there! I went everywhere locally trying to find it, but nobody carries it any more. Everyone I spoke to said to look on your website, and there it was!
Works very well!!
THIS IS DRAWING SALVE FOR HORSES HOOVES. "NOT FOR HUMAN USE." IT SAYS SO ON THE BACK LABEL OF THE LARGE 14 OZ. CONTAINER. WE DO NOT HAVE HORSES. WE NEEDED HUMAN DRAWING SALVE - WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.
This product was recommended for scratches treatment by an online recommendation from a Smartpak vet. I ordered rush delivery after reading the recommendation. I sent inline inquiry for specific directions and received no reply. I applied the ointment to my horses scratches and on the morning of the second day, my horses legs were hot, swollen, and oozing yellow serum. I gently shampooed to remove ointment. He was so painful! He was badly burned from the ointment and skin was peeling off. We had to disinfect and start antibiotics. He is doing better. But this product caused way more problems than the scratches ever did. The photos below were taken a week AFTER the ointment debacle.
i did not receive this item
I sent a reply to the seller asking about an expiration date of 04/16, but after reading the 2 start review I now understand why he/she had an issue with the product. The seller is must be selling expired jars of this stuff. My wife even commented that it had no smell, and usually a fresh jar has a strong smell. I am sending it back.
