This kitty door has enabled me to have a quiet night's sleep. My cat cried to get in and out of the bedroom all night, necessitating my constantly getting up. (Door had to be closed for single room air conditioner) The door was easy for my husband to insert, it's pretty quiet, it's opens easily and it actually looks good. It functions as a "night light" as well...light from the living room comes through just enough to see by.My cat was distrustful at first, but it opens so easily and isn't stiff, so she adapted quickly. I love this Kat Flap and wish we had bought it months ago!

Our 3 month old kittens love it. It was very easy and fairly quick to install. We've only had it in for about a week tho so we'll see how they hold up as our two kitties grow.

The door comes with a cutting template and clear instructions. After cutting the hole in the door, installation is simple. It's helpful to have someone helping you hold the cat door in position from the opposite side of the door from which your installing the screws. The door contains a magnet which helps keep the door in the down (closed) position. The magnet creates small resistance when the cat pushes on the door. It would be better if the magnet was optional/removable.

This was definitely an overdue purchase. We have been propping the basement door open with a shoe for months in the new house for the cat to run down to do his business and it finally came time to close the door (when the cat would come upstairs he would nudge the door fully open because he was too fat to sneak through the gap). My husband said it was easy to put in. My only issues with this product are (1) the flap doesn't swing a easily as i would like and our cat kind of has to put a little effort in to opening it (I'm sure this will ease as he uses it more) and (2) the lever at the bottom to lock it is very stiff and I feel like I'm going to break it one of these days. With those only two VERY minor things I would surely suggest this to anyone. Also, my cat is definitely not HUGE (12 lbs, i think) and he seems to be just the perfect size for this product. It does leave room for him to grow wider if that happens but I'm so glad we went bigger rather than smaller.

So my husband isn't the best handy man...he said the cut out was not correct or so he says, and because of the stairs behind the door it really needs to be lower than what it says. The door itself is really good quality. For a handy man I would say this door is perfect but i don't have a very experienced handyman and I don't think the job he did was bad at all...we do need a new door and will be doing this again haha!
