iDesign Metal Tension Shower Curtain Rod, Adjustable Between 26"-42", Matte Black

The Inter Design Tension Rod is a very useful item for the laundry room. This particular size is good for use in doorways or inset windows. It is simple and easy to use. Just set your width, add an inch and twist to set. Then, compress and put it in place. The rod is pretty strong and will hold a good amount of laundry weight. However, don't expect to do chin-ups on it. I use it to hang my shirts and pants coming out of the dryer to prevent folds and creasing. It is also good if you do a lot of ironing and need a good temporary space to hang things while working. It's quick and easy to use. I like it!

A little background on this rod: the instructions state to pull this rod to ONE inch larger than the opening you need to cover. You then TWIST THE ROD TO LOCK it in place (you twist until you can't turn it any more). With most tension rods you have to keep twisting and twisting just to get the length you need and it's usually several inches beyond the size of the opening. When they say an inch for this rod, they actually mean an inch. You can actually measure it to the length you need, lock it in place, and the spring inside allows you enough room to fit it in the space you want it without scuffing and scratching everything in its path...and it stays in place! I'm actually using these in my living room windows to put thick curtains behind the decorative ones to help keep heat in. Works like a charm just as expected. Holds in place well and I just love the look of the black finish. I think it is a very classy look in a shower since you always see stainless. the finish is very attractive with my decor. Very impressed with this product

I really like this rod. The only issue I have is that it only extends 42" long. It's not long enough for a standard tub/shower combo. I had the bright idea that I would use it for my master bath shower. However, I did not take into consideration that the shower is a corner unit. There are no sides that have 2 walls. I will find a use for it!

After I put the shower curtain rod up a few days ago I was pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the product! It is very well made and looks great. After using it daily while pulling the shower curtain back & forth daily, I can honestly saw that it does the job well and stays in place! I highly recommend this product for it's quality, sturdiness and look!

I ordered this Interdesign 'Shower curtain' tension rod not for a shower curtain. I have a small alcove in my bedroom I wanted to use for some of my hanging clothes that don't fit in my regular closet. This rod has become my extended clothing storage space. I'm sure as a shower curtain rod it was made to hold up a light amount - not all the hangers & mostly light weight pants & leggings I'm using it for but, it's holding up well! I like the locking system of pulling the rod open an inch bigger than you need, roll the bar in place to lock it, then pull back for tension, put in place and release. Simple & sturdy. It's been 3 days in place and hasn't budged under the weight of my clothes...feels so snug & secure I'm sure it'll hang in there for the long haul (as long as I don't get too carried away hanging lots of weighty things on it :).

Perfect! This heavy duty tension rod is exactly what I needed for the two, 3-tier sets of hanging shelves I just purchased. The tension rod has silicone type hard plastic discs on each end to protect the walls or door frames or where ever you need it to go so it will not slide and leave marks. It also has small instructions on the end of the part you are going to be adjusting. That was great, arrows showing me where to twist! It has worked out very well and the 3-tier shelves are loaded with extra sets of sheets which are quite a heavy load. Good sturdy quality and a price you can not beat!

This review is for the InterDesign Matte Black Shower Curtain Tension Rod (size 26-42"). I am in the process of updating my house and my sons room was on the list. He has a small room so I decided to remove his closet door and use a shower curtain rod with a curtain as a door instead. Well, this rod was a bit too big so I decided to use the rod as an extra clothing rack for when I do laundry. I placed it in the doorway that is next to my washer and dryer. I now have a place to hang up our clothes after getting them out of the dryer. This rod was very easy to put up. Simply pull the rod out to the width of the doorway, twist it to lock it in, then place one end of the rod on the inside of the door while pushing in on the other side of the rod and slip it into place. It works wonderfully for my needs and once I am done, I can store it beside my washer. It's out of the way and right there for when I need it. I will be purchasing a smaller one to fit in my sons closet. I can honestly think of many uses for this. I can use this outside on my porch to hang my flower baskets in the spring as well. No drilling holes or having a permanent rod. I can remove it when I want. It's sturdy and held up well with all my clothes. I do recommend this!

The only reason I would not recommend to a friend is, if they were as dumb as I was. I did not have enough sense to measure first and it was too short for our bath/shower. Otherwise it is attractive and seems sturdy. Believe me, I have been going all over the house trying to find a use for it. Finally, saw I could use under the stairs, that go to the garage, which is sort of a closet, and hang seasonal clothes on it. So, win, win, as now have extra hanging space.

Your curtain rod is a cheap piece of crap. I would not lock when installing and then when not installing it locked up and won't get any bigger now!! Piece of crap! I waited a week for this cheap thing. Your shipping is slow and your product is crap!!!

So I was pretty excited to receive this InterDesign small tension rod as I am lacking in places to hang clothes to air dry. I realize it is not marketed for such a purpose, but I have used other tension rods for this before just fine. Simply install the rod in a closet doorway and create instant drying space. The effort I had to put into just getting this item out of the packaging should have told me this was going to be more labor intensive than I thought. The rod was wired to the backing in several places and shrink wrapped to within an inch of its life. Finally I got it freed from its plastic prison. The instructions were right on the bar itself—extend an inch beyond the space you want spanned then twist and lock the bar. Sounds easy. Not so easy. Many minutes later I was still wrestling with this thing. I could not get it to lock in the tension so it simply fell every time. I tried different doorways and openings. Still couldn't get it to stay in place. While messing with it in the bathroom, the other end popped right off, flew through the air and made a perfect landing right in the toilet. That's where I wished I could cram this bar at this point. I finally got it to work after a lot of twisting (and cursing) and it is up and it was able to hold several pairs of heavy pants as shown in the photo but I wouldn't trust it to hold them long. The rubber ends need better grip—they're too smooth and if they were bigger it would help. Even if I were just using it to hold a shower curtain, I couldn't trust it. I know I will not be moving it from the top of that door where I installed it. It's now a permanent fixture as I don't want to go through that pain again. I have other tension rods in the house in my shower and closet etc. and I have never had as much frustration with installation as I did with this one.
