After breaking 3 knives and losing a couple more, I looked to replace my now-incomplete 2-year-old knife set/block. The knives in my old set all broke at the exact same location: right where the blade meets the handle. Consequently, my primary goal for buying a new set of knives was not only to replace the ones that broke and have complete set but also make sure they would not break at this weak spot where the handle connects to the blade. Given I am an interior design freak, a secondary goal of mine for this purchase was something that looked good and would match my other appliances, especially since it would utilize previous counter space. Those are the reasons I ended up buying this product. The box opening experience is quite satisfying: much more so that expected. The box itself is very well designed, making it look like a premium product that would be easy to gift, and all the knives were protected with hard plastic edges, soft plastic bags, and cardboard. I found the knives have a great feel to them: they have a perfect weight (not too light but not too heavy as well), the handles are textured making, and their lengths matches my hand – making them easy to handle. I mostly use the steak knives (every day), shears (every day), santoku (3 times a week), and bread knife (once a week). I've been very happy with all of these: they come out of the box with very sharp blades, cut through hard (e.g., frozen meat) and soft (e.g. tomatoes) easily, and the combined handle/blade make them feel very secure and under control during use. A couple of signs these are good knives, especially compared to my old ones, is that I've noticed 1) my soft food doesn't “squish” anymore while cutting and 2) the knives' blades, especially the longer ones, don't bend. I've been hand washing them without any issues, but cannot comment on using a dishwasher since I do not own one. I don't use the knife sharpener since I already own a bigger/better hand-held one with multiple sharpening options, so I cannot comment on this product's efficacity, although I find it ingenious to integrate it directly into the block, especially for those looking for a complete solution. I will update this review if things come up in the near future and my feelings about this product changes. From an interior design standpoint, I love the knife block's black color that contrasts really well with the steel/silver knives and the gold/brown accent color (for the logo). I also love the knives' handles' design, with their curvy black design that add a nice contrast, in addition to the scissors that have a unique look to them with a twisty curve near the handles. Together, these small design choices not only add to the premium feel of this product but also matches my (black and silver) kitchen appliances and accent color (gold/yellow) that I use throughout my kitchen. In fact, I've had quite a few complements from friends and family regarding how nice the block looks and how well they fit within

The wife had an old set of pioneer woman knifes that had plastic handles that were cracked and falling apart. She saw these and the built in sharpener and wanted them. These knifes are sharp. The wife hasn't cut herself yet, like she did all the time with the pioneer woman set. I'm sure it is coming though. She seems more careful with these, but only had them a couple months now.

Great set of knives for the money. I love that they are one piece, it makes them much easier to clean. I do wish there were different options for the block color, but the darker stained block has grown on me and I don't dislike it as much as I initially thought I would.

So I will admit, normally I buy the $120 block set of knives. Won't be doing that anymore.The ease that these knives cut through meat, bread and vegetables is awesome. (And yes my old sets I did keep sharp)The handles are made from wood that you can tell they hand select, so every handle feels great in your hand and is well balanced.I really like the fact that the block where the steak knives go separates so you can take them to the table with ease.These knives are awesome!

Bought this set after it went on sale. Have never had a nice kitchen knife set before, always had some Walmart special brands, Farberware etc. My son in law is a cook and always complained about our knives when he would cook for us occasionally. Could never get a good sharp edge no matter what we did. These arrived quickly and first time using a few of the blades we were in awe. Not sure how we ever managed without a set like this but glad we tried them. We'll worth the investment.

I waited to write a review to see if the knives would or could rust or get rust spotting. After a lazy weekend submerged in semi eek water, no issues presented.Easy to clean and they stay very sharp. I like the built block knife sharpener, personally never a fan of the wand sharpening.I usually like my utility knife to have teeth, this one is smooth. Nonetheless, I've been impressed since the utility knife is my always go to knife in any block.

Got this as a gift for my Boyfriend and he absolutely loves it. He religiously washes and drys it after each use then stores it in the leather cover it brings. I've seen it in action and can attest it indeed cuts through meats smooth as butter. Especially raw chicken breasts which we all know can be annoying.I picked this knife as a gift for him because of its unique shape, I wanted a type of knife that doesn't normally come in knife sets and I'm pleased to say this exceeded my expectations!Pros:-comes with its own cover-the cover has a loop so it can be clipped onto pants if you decide your feeling outdoorsy or hung on a kitchen rack for display-cuts so so smoothly-Doesn't rustCons:-awkward shape-large in size and can be hard to store

This is a great intermediate knife set. The knives are sharp right out of the box. So I see a lot of complaints about the shears coming apart and I would like to address that. Kitchen shears are designed to come apart for cleaning... the last thing you want is a lot of nasty raw meat caught in the crevices of your shears. It is not my intention to be condescending about the misinformation, I just don't want product reviews to suffer because of this. As far as rust spots go, if you clean and dry your knives immediately after use you should have no issue whatsoever. If you would like to be extra cautious you can put a very very very light coat of olive oil on them after use then wipe it off before the next use. It is very important to wash the knives immediately after use, especially if you are cutting something with high acidity as it will destroy the blade. I feel a lot of the negative reviews are made because of not knowing the basic fundamentals of knife use.

This is a great starter set for my daughter who is in her first apartment. She is thrilled to have a matching set to replace the odds and ends that were her old set from college. The set is easy to clean and holds an edge and is dishwasher safe. (The wood handles on her old knife split after a few washings)

I buy my friends and family this particular meat cleaver due to the size weight and coating of the knife. You still have to clean by hand after use, but not like other carbon knives I've purchased. If rust does show up on the knife easier to clean a small surface than the whole blade! The coating makes a big work difference specially for your lazy friends and family members! :)
