I used to waste money buying soft margarine in a plastic tub. Then when the price kept rising on that I remembered that years before I had always used stick margarine. So I went back to that choice and haven't regretted it. The taste is just fine. It's great in the skillet and in baking as well as topping your bagel or toast. When you complete a stick there's only one small piece of paper for the trash rather than more plastic for the landfill or the ocean. I made a brilliant choice!

Margarine for Chex Mix and cookies

CarolR35 November 24, 2025

I only buy margarine for specific baking or cooking purposes because it has less water content than butter. That's why it makes the perfect Chex mix or crispy cookies. Butter makes softer cookies and it keeps the Chex mix too damp so you have to cook it longer and I've always used it that way I will not eat it on any other thing, but I will cook with it for those.

Better for the heart

Sandy September 14, 2025

I choose Imperial margarine over the store brand. When cooking meats and fish that I cook down into a gravy, Imperial margarine is my go to and baking. If it's a dish that I want gravy, after browning my meat or frying my fish, then cook down into a gravy I add margarine rather than butter, due to health issues. I like butter, but only use once in a blue moon. Butter hardens, which is bad for your artery. Imperial margarine makes gravy rich and works well with making my homemade Banana Bread and other dishes. Once in awhile I'll use Real butter, but majority of the time I use margarine and I prefer Imperial over the supermarket brand.

Imperial margin

c August 18, 2026

We're on a restricted diet and we can't buy regular butter. We're supposed to just a minute, but this has been approved for us imperial my Grammarly imperial and it's cheaper at Walmart than it is the other grocery stores he can't beat the price. It's great for baking.

Flavorful and Spreads Easily!

anonymous July 28, 2026

The imperial spread is a great substitute for real butter. I use it for baking and all my cooking needs. It's a lot cheaper than the leading brand name ones and in my opinion they're more flavorful and spreads easily. The quality and value is phenomenally great!

Give it a go next time you make cookies.

Mary August 10, 2026

Important! If the recipe doesn't call for real butter, this is the ONLY margarine I will ever use. Because the flavor is so good in cookies, fudges, cakes even pie crusts. It holds up well in every thing, but it MUST be the stick. I don't know why, it just works.

The Better Budget

K August 26, 2026

I usually buy Great Value butter but budgetary considerations forced me to switch to margarine for the cost savings. Decided to buy two for a comparison test: Blue Bonnet vs Imperial. Blue Bonnet - Pro: Lowest cost. Con: Low flavor, needs more salt. Take Away: I would buy this again, but only strictly to use for baking or recipes that are already rich in flavor. Imperial - Pro: Low cost, marginally over lowest. Decent flavor, wider uses - acceptable on toast/bagel (added seasoning). Con: Not great for Rice-a-Roni (sticks to pan, real butter recommended). Take Away: Imperial is the winner here. Summary - Although real salted butter tastes %26 performs the best, Imperial margarine is a good cost effective option. For the moment it's all I will be buying just this; in the future I will keep it incorporated and buy it along side Great Value salted butter, each for different uses. Recommend? Yes! Specifically for anyone on a tight budget.

Perfect go to for cooking and baking.

william August 31, 2026

My mother used Imperial and I know why. each stick is precisely marked with measurements to help you in your cooking and baking. Who doesnt have kids that love macaroni (call me a big kid I still love it at 56) just cut at the marks and your on the way. I get 2 boxes every year in my thanksgiving preperations. The price is always resonable. Keep a box or two in the back of your fridge, you wont regret it.

Imperial Margarine, Fit For A King!

Audrey September 6, 2026

Does anyone besides me remember the commercial for Imperial Margarine? It's fit for a King :D I've been buying Imperial margarine sticks (and tubs) for many, many years. The price is right, and I will tell you for making my chocolate chip cookies, this margarine works the best so I have stuck with it. And I do think it's fit for a King... and a Queen too ;)

Where's the 45 ounce size? Safeway has it!

M August 27, 2026

I am very disappointed in Walmart for discontinuing the 45 ounce size and leaving us with the 15 ounce size, apparently as a way to raise the price for the amount used by a given customer. They don't seem to care less about their loyal customers, only the "share holders" AND the managment bonuses for obtaining high profits. What about considering the Walmart customers that make all this possible?
