I noted that other reviewers said this is a large round metal curry. No kidding. This thing is a menacingly large shedding tool. Think draft horse size! But it is doing the job on my fuzzy Arabian. This time of the year he doesn't mind the metal teeth. If your horse is a little light on his winter coat, this might be too assertive a shedding curry but it is working well on a more substantial coat.
Been using this every time a groom my horse since I got it! It's like a curry brush and shedding tool...all in one! I love it! I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but have used it a lot. It seems to be made well and has held up to the many times I've used it so far. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a shedding tool, that also doubles as a curry brush. It gets the loose hair and loosens up the dirt and the dirt is then easily brushed off with the hard brush.
I love this thing! It is larger than a regular spiral curry which is why I like it so much. I have an OTTB that lives primarily out in a large paddock. Even with his winter blanket (neck cover and all) he still gets really muddy because he loves to lay down and roll A LOT. So when I groom him, this makes it a breeze to get all of the mud off. It is my best friend in the winter months!!!!!
With spring coming early, my horse has been shedding like crazy! It's been rather wet here as well so he's always covered in mud. This takes care of both. Gets rid of the dried mud and excess hair. It's a very hearty comb and so affordable.
I use a metal curry comb to clean brushes so this one is a little too large for that purpose, but it works fine. Would rather buy a less expensive, smaller curry.
I learned about this product from my friend at a different barn. The horse that I was going to ride for her had random patches of dried dirt ALL over him. This metal curry took the dirt off in like 5 seconds. It's definitely a miracle worker. The only thing I have to warn people about is that if your horse is some what sensitive to touch, make sure to spiral the curry lightly. My horse generally isn't sensitive, but he didn't like it when I first went to use it on him. FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CURRY LIKE ME!!!!!!!!!
I love this Spiral Curry Comb because it's so easy to use. I believe it works better than the standard shedding blade in hair removal. It is small enough to brush in curved places around the horse's underbelly and upper legs. Unlike a regular shedding blade, the handle fits securely and comfortably in my hand.
This is the best curry comb to tackle all of your tough shedding season needs. The handle is the perfect length and width to give you a really comfortable grasp while putting in some serious elbow grease while you curry. The size of the curry comb is big enough to get the job done but also fits perfectly in your groom tote. The six rows of stainless steel blades put this curry comb into a league of its own. Personally, my horse loves all the rows of the blades. He really leans into those deep curry strokes. This curry comb is amazing to use on horses and ponies of all shapes, sizes, and disciplines.
Both me and my horses are enjoying this new purchase. The sharp teeth allow a nice scratch and gets old hair and dirt out easily and the flexible handle keeps it from being too harsh. My 4-legged friends are turning around to look at me and check out this new grooming tool and I can tell they really like it!
When I received this curry comb I was surprised at the size...it's huge compared to my old one! Initially I thought it was too big, but since using it, I've change my mind. It's a great size to attack a really muddy horse, making the job much easier. I'd order another.
