I purchased my original several years ago and it's been working beautifully. I moved cross country and lost it. this was a replacement. I use it to keep my & my kids' cell phones charged when we are camping. The original made it through several summers of heat & pop-up thundershowers. looking forward to m=seeing it this replacement does the same.
Bought this solar panel for my trip into the national parks in Zambia. Tested it at home (Canada) and it charged quickly, especially when aligning the sundial correctly. Once charged by the sun, I plugged in my cell, and that was charged quickly by the solar panel. I also charged my Kindle and Fitbit with no issues and the solar panel still had power to spare. So far, I'm quite happy with the Solar Panel 5+ and I hope it performing just as well in the jungle.
The panel came in a great box that protects it when not in use. Have set it up in a south window and it is powered up and ready to go.
Great product. Solves the problem of how to recharge various devices when on the trail or canoeing in wilderness areas.
I am 70 yrs old. Just used my solar pad yesterday when power was out for over 5 hours to charge up my phone. I recharge off my deck. Great item for me love the slim size. Even got the light too for night!!
Seems pretty sweet, charged my phone in the yard haven't really used it out and about yet. Super light, seems well made, the legs ratchet pretty tight, between that and the eyelets I think you could stand, lean, or hang this thing anywhere you want. The sundial doesn't work well in overcast but I guess that's kinda the point...
I just wanted to try it out. It's more versatile than the SolarPanel 10+ (which I've had for 3 years now). I've tried various ways of hanging and carrying it. Saw a picture of someone carrying theirs on a backpack and wanted to try it with my hydration pack while cycling. Just waiting for warmer weather to try it.
Trial charge of phone and recharge by sun worked well 1st time. Would give a 5 stars but instructions need improvement. For example Button and Charge Indicators are mislabeled on diagram and need to be more specific that Button needs to be pressed down once to charge device (and occasionally afterwards).
I'm not finding any use for this. The unit overheats and shuts off for like an hour before you can use. I get maybe 20-30 min before it overheats. Not sure if I have a defective panel but I have to fool with it all day to even get something charged. Not worth the hassle. Maybe mine was defective though.. when it did work it worked well. The light indicators show strength of sun power. Love the sun dial to line up. Like that it has an onboard battery although I have never once seen it have the rated power.
It stopped working and I'm very upset no one has gotten back to me. I've purchased several biolite products and I hope this is rare occurrence and someone correct whats happen.
