hth Brilliance Cal hypo gives an alternative to the more common trichlor tablets that raise your stabilizer/cyanuric acid level. once your stabilizer gets too high it gets locked, and your choices are to drain and refill your water or stop adding stabilizer, switch to liquid chlorine and cal hypo tablets without stabilizer. in order to use these tablets you will need a new floater. regular floaters will clog as these tablets break up into small bits and plug the small openings in the regular floater. also any residue of the regular tablets may react violently to these. the hth floater designer for these collects the particles and has 360 degrees of screen. for water to dissolve the tablet.the only adjustment is number of tablets. A 5lb box contains 9 tablets. the photos show hth floater on left and regular floater after brilliance tablet has broken up and clogged the small openings. the chlorine odor when opening the box is less intense than regular trichlor tablets. be careful how you store your chemicals as corrosive vapors may leak out and bleach and corrode metals. a thick plastic bag may help.
