I bought a cheap replacement that did not last. Should have bought the OEM, real part the first time. Constructed much better, heavy duty.
We purchased the Evolution series disposal a few months ago. We chose Insinkerator based on previous experience. It works great, is very quiet but the splash guard is awful. We weren't very happy with how poorly it drained. We waited to review this disposal hoping the splash guard would soften up and work better. No such luck, we still have to use our hands to force feed the disposal or remove the guard altogether. Never had this problem withe previous models.
The replacement baffle is thinner than the original.
When were excited to get a highly rated InSinkErator during our kitchen remodel. The actual disposal motor is fantastic, powerful, and quiet. However, I completely underestimated just how much of a difference the design of the splash guard gasket makes. My previous disposal from another brand was flawless — I never thought about it because food just slid down naturally. With this InSinkErator, the rubber is so stiff and stubborn that it acts like a dam, backing up food and water constantly. I hated the daily frustration so much I finally just took the gasket out completely and now operate the disposal without it most of the time. It's messy, but it's the only way to get food to actually enter the disposal without force-feeding it. The machine is great, but this terrible gasket design makes me hate our decision.
The design restricts water flow so much that it takes 5-6 minutes to drain the sink. Will be finding a replacement as soon as possible and this will sadly end up in a landfill. It is obvious that this design was improperly engineered and never underwent testing for form, fit, and function.
It does a good job of decreasing noise but it blocks food and water drainage preventing the device from doing its primary job. I would rather have some occasional noise from the disposal, but I actually have it work.
I bought 2 of these from 2 different places thinking that the first was incorrect. Both don't fit my sink just like everyone else! They say it is a 3 inch wide baffle but it is actually 3 1/4 inches and will not fit any sinks. STAY AWAY AND DON'T BY THIS PRODUCT!!!
This baffle does dampen the noise from the disposer, prevent silverware from falling in, and blocks ground food from splashing out. However, it does not allow water to freely flow down into the drain, requiring me to submerge my hand in dirty water to force it open.
Absolutely despise this redesigned baffle. Water just pools up in the sink, requiring you to either constantly push the baffle with a utensil or your hand in order for the sink to drain or run the disposal. It is so unsanitary and I routinely notice anything sitting in my sink will get coated in debris and grease because it's sitting in dirty water while I clean. I wish they sold the old design but it looks like I'll either be cutting this one open so that it drains better or buying a non-OEM piece. For the length of time you run a disposal, the sacrifice of sanitation is not worth it. Sure, it's quieter now, but I have to run it way more often to achieve drainage or inconvenience myself by freeing a hand to constantly get my sink to drain. I'd rather just pause my conversation or not quite be able to hear everything for 10 seconds and deal with a noisier disposal.
It's a little too big for my drain so doesn't really fit well. Also it is very flimsy. I would not recommend this product.
