Best garbage disposer we have ever owned! It is so quiet! We paid to have it installed by one of Lowe's installers, which cost us about a $100.00, but it is easy to install for the average handyman. Be sure to knock out the plug (you must do this in all new garbage disposers you buy). The black ring for the drain in the sink pulls out so that you can wash it in the dishwasher or by hand. You can also buy extra one's at Lowes. You will love this garbage disposal, it is well worth the money. The installer told us we will never have to buy another one again.
As a homeowner, I never had to replace a garbage disposal. So many choices but the Esteem Plus had all the features and more. It's quiet...so quiet and built to last a lifetime...at least my lifetime
Ive had this brand for years. I normally have them.for 15 years at a time. I use mine EVERY SINGLE DAY. I got a bigger new one only because I had my kitchen remodeled & I love it! Its bigger & has more powerful model than I've bought in the past, but I now have a Farm sink, so I figured I'd need it. I LOVE IT!
Easy to remove my original 1/4HP insinkerator. No need to remove the mounting bracket. Installation instructions were clear and accurate. All I needed was some quality pipe thread sealant (save yourself some time and forego teflon tape) for the main waste drain. The new "soft" plumbing connections are simple and reduce vibrations to nearly zero. Both the dishwasher discharge line and main disposal waste drain are heavy duty rubber mounts and quite ingenious. No more noise and objectionable vibrations! Small drain leaks should be a thing of the past. Highly recommended.
So our old garbage disposal stopped working on a Sunday and I had nothing better to do so I took on the challenge of installing a new disposal. Since I was going to be doing it myself I splurged on a better disposal with the savings of not hiring a plumber. The Evolution Esteem Plus was surprising easy to install and is so much quieter than the previous unit we had. Since the actual function can not be seen, I will take Insinkerators word on the functionality claims. So far everything is working great!
The provided sleeve which connects the unit to the drain was barely long enough to securely connect requiring me to have to re plumb the drain trap. Unit is very quiet and powerful. Like the rubber stopper now is removable and not built in to the insinkerator.
The install was easy Getting the old unit out took 1 hour with PB Blaster and a chisel. The install took 20 minutes This unit is so quiet that my wife said “turn it on I want to hear it” , while it was running. It ate 2 apples and 1 lemon in less time than it took to type this line
I recently replaced the original contractor grade disposal in my kitchen and used the occasion to rationalize an upgrade. Not only is this new one twice the horsepower, I cannot get over how quiet it is. I have to be standing right in front of it to hear it running. This thing oozes quality. As for ease of installation, I just wrote a check to my maintenance guy and it magically found itself installed. You can't get any easier than that!
The only question/problem that I have is that the water drains so slowly. Is there a problem with the rubber insert in that there is so little area for the water to drain from the sink?
This is so quiet that when we turned it on after installing it we weren't sure it was actually working! It quickly pulverizes whatever we put in it and does so quietly. The design flaw is that the opening in the rubber is very small that food will not flow into the disposal unless it is pushed down. This is even for small stuff, soft stuff or even very thick liquid such as pancake batter. As a matter of fact, when I poured pancake batter into the sink not only did it not go through the small opening but water began to fill up in the sink until I pushed on the rubber with a spoon and allowed it all to flow through. I would have preferred a smaller, louder version that has an opening large enough for small items to flow without pushing on the rubber. If you don't mind pushing the food down every time--this is a great solution. Otherwise, I would check out their other models. Side note: we wanted the Badger 5 but could not find it in stock anywhere. The only models we could find in stock anywhere were the expensive ones.
