Shopping on Jet saved us over 50% of what we were quoted from plumbers! The customer service was hands down the best I experienced! This was our first purchase and the csr gave us an extra 15% off the already great savings. I would recommend this garbage disposal for anyone with a septic system, it is extremely quiet and a quick and easy install! Thanks Jet!
Living in the country with a septic has posed a challenge to having the luxury and efficiency of a garbage disposal to truly complete my kitchen. After hearing about the Septic Assist from a family member (also a licensed plumber), I was thrilled to know that Insinkerator was the brand to stand behind it as well. I've had Insinkerator disposals before and they are second to none in longevity, durability, power and QUIET. Thrilled with my new Septic Assist. Easy to install and the replaceable Bio Charge cartridges (bottles) are simple to swap out and last a long time. If you use this correctly (and don't shove whole pumpkins down your disposal -- as no one, even on utility water should!) you too will have no issues with having a garbage disposal AND a septic tank.
We've been, over the years, slowly remodeling our 1926 farmhouse, built when there wasn't even electricity in the area. When we got around to the kitchen, we wanted all the conveniences, that included a dishwasher (other than one of us) and a garbage disposal unit. Being on a small flow sewage treatment facility, basically a house sized treatment plant, limited us to what we could install that wouldn't give the system "heartburn". This InSinkErator Evolution Septic Assist unit certainly fills the bill. The unit was easy enough to install and operates flawlessly. Incredibly quiet and fairly stingy with the tank of "bugs" that it injects when used. We've been using it now for about 6 months and haven't used half a bottle; it was a bit of a concern to us as to how much "consumable" it would use, but, we're quite happy with the unit and its function. Well done InSinkErator!
Replaced a ~19 year old InSinkErator septic assist unit with the new Evolution Septic Assist. New unit is much quitter.. Removal/installation was simple due to the lock ring design and the process only took about 30 minutes. One word of caution, disposals are heavy. Unless you have the arms of Thor, lifting it in place with one hand and turning the lock ring with the other is not doable while hunched under a sink. I used blocks of wood to lift/hold the unit in place.
I had the same issues as others who said the bio charge liquid would not feed from the dispenser bottle. I discovered on a repeat test run that the force of the disposal turning on jars the unit enough that the bottle works itself loose after a few uses. Thus the enzymes in the bottle are not pumping into the system. Here's my fix: use self-adhesive velcro and attach to unit on top, bottom and on each side. Then use velcro cut-to-length bundling strap and wrap around the bottom of the dispenser bottle , up each side of the unit, attach to the self adhesive velcro you just put on the unit and secure snugly on top. When is time to replace the bottle, release the velcro strap , snap in new bottle, and snugly resecure the strap. Problem solved. Its too bad One has to “reinvent the wheel on this product” but this solution worked for me.
Disposal unit was very quiet & worked well but the septic assist did not.I primed it the way they said many times but it still didn't wok.I had to take it out & pour it down the drain.
I saw the response to the review by SteveXray123. My disposal is doing the same thing, not dispensing the bio charge. I have tried a new bottle but it is still not dispensing. Otherwise it works well. Can you send those instructions to me?
VERY disappointed in the system. My previous garbage disposal was a kitchen aid and my plumber recommended purchasing an insinkerator for our new home. I could not be anymore disappointed in this system. I don't have near the power with this one that I did in my kitchen aid system. Very disappointing
I have now have gone through two disposals in five weeks. The disposal intermittently trips the breaker. We have swapped to other outlet/breakers and the unit still trips the breaker. Not impressed at all and would not recommend. I gave innovation a "1" simply because this does not work.
After 6 months of use, the Septic infusion liquid is not being sprayed as advertised. Can not figure out why it is not working.
