So far the pump.is great. Ive been using it for about 2 weeks and the water is clear as can be. The intex pump that came with the pool sucked.... So this upgrade from 1500 to 2500 is really nice. I read the reviews before I bought it and so far so good. I have the round intex 18 foot x 5 feet deep.
Great pump saved the pool I have bought was about to throw it away...Pump arrived 2 days early and had free shipping. I purchased this pump to replace pump that came with a 10ft X 30in above ground pool made by Summer Waves(Polygroup). This pump replaced the pump (RP-350) that came with my pool and it was an easy swap the hoses from the RP-350 pump fit perfectly to the Intex 530 as they both have 1.25" diameter hose fittings. Very pleased as the RP-350 on all sites that I looked into would have cost more than the pool itself. This pump works way better and filters the water WAY BETTER than the RP-350 ever did. (RP-350)-worked for only 4 days operated 1.5 hrs each day and died. Intex pump have had for several weeks operating it 1.5-2hrs a day and still works.
In 2012 I bought an Intex pool that came with the 1500hp pump. That little pump had very little circulation so I did a little research and spent $200 on this 2500 pump. It was a huge difference. I could angle the outtake and shoot water clean across the pool. Angling it one way made shocking super easy because it would whirlpool the water. 2020 Comes and I cleaned and filled my pool and hooked everything up and my pump finally died. What a shock, instead of going up the price dropped to $77. It arrived in 4 days which wasn't bad. I see a lot of pools now and a lot have this 2500hp pump and I was surprised Walmart doesn't stock these.
When we first started using the filter that came with the pool, I could see right away we were going to have a problem, not water flow was being provided to remove the debris in the water, mainly Algae. Then we upgraded to this filter, what a difference, within 30 minutes of installing. Please note if your pool is 6' - 18' (183 cm-549cm) already came with a filter you are going to want to upgrade to this filter. You will also need to order 2 adapators #10722, from Intex direct 1-800-234-6839. The filter hose for this filter is going to be larger then what you previously have, the adapt or will take care of the issue. The price is Only around $6.50-$7.00 each. Good luck and happy swimming.
I purchased this pump to upgrade on my 14x42 Pro Series pool, also purchased from Walmart last summer. You will not be disappointed in this pump. True, Intex sometimes leaves pumps to be desired, as far as reliability, but I have had this pump going now all summer, and what a difference. Easy to install, no cutting of holes. You will have to purchase a filter hose conversion kit, part # 4550, and skimmer filter pump adapter, part # 4552, available also on Amazon. Parts are under $20 for both. I am not sure of the hose size I used, but I can tell you it is the same size as the outlet that originally came with pool. I did not have to upgrade vacuum or vacuum hoses, the ones that came with pool work fine. I read stories of how pool skimmer canister and/or hoses collapse, not in my case. I used the same strainer basket, to keep large debris from being sucked down into filter, suction is strong enough to keep it in place. I also did not buy the plungers, I felt no need for them. The filter cartridge itself stays pretty clean all week. Change them once a week, then add a 3" chlorine tablet to skimmer basket, and two 3" chlorine tablets to the floating dispenser. Pool stays clear and clean. Vacuuming is a breeze, as the circulation keeps the surface pretty clean, and everything else settles to bottom in basically one spot. What used to take an hour to vacuum with the old fish aquarium pump, is now done in about 15 minutes. Pump comes with a timer, I set it to run 4 hours a day, the recommended time as per manufacturer. Pump is also quiet, no rattling of teeth, as I used to refer to the old pump. Also, you will have to buy the metal clamps, versus the plastic ones used for the hoses. As the plastic ones just blow right off. So, if you are thinking of an upgrade, don't hesitate to try this one.
Installation was a breeze. We have a 26x52” pool and it is doing a wonderful job cleaning. You couldn't ask for a better choice. It used a B filter. We love it. We are extremely happy with our purchase.
Replacement of a pump that lasted 4 years. Received a newer version without timer. Intex replaced that one with one that had timer in the cord.
I am happy with the pump but was very unhappy to see it for sale 60.00 cheaper on Amazon just a few days after buying it from Walmart hence the low rating. I would have returned it but what a hassle after already hooking up the pump to my pool .
never used the pump for the fact that the 8' pool once filled had multiple holes fresh out of the box. tried patching while filling with included patching material included was ineffective! Purchased some Gorilla water proof patching tape which was much more effective but continued to leak. Gave up! trashed the pool and never spent the effort to hook up the pump which is still in box. Water in So. California is too precious and expensive to repetitively to empty, patch and refill.
you stopped filtering after one week cuz it was getting clogged how do you want to buy another one so stupid maybe the same one and that one didn't work either)
