Intex Krystal Klear Sand Filter Pump for Swimming Pools, 1,200 GPH

I'm so glad all of the supercenters (all 4 near me - Southaven, Hernando, Olive Branch and Whitehaven) were all out of the pool pump I was looking for so I chose to try to find it online through the Wal-Mart website. At the store, the item was priced at $200, but through the website it was only $122. I saved not only $78 but the additional tax. There was no shipping/processing/handling fee either. The product actually arrived in less than a week...and it's running like a dream. The DVD provided by the manufacturer was extremely helpful...a little confusing at first, but after watching it bit by by and trying to follow the steps and actually skipping a step or two and trying to do it my own way, I found out that the guy on the DVD knew what he was doing. I bought this pump for my Summer Escapes 12 ft pool with side skimmer. I got to tell you this pump is a match made in heaven. It was a bit of a challenge converting it over to attach to my Pool since intex is slightly different but once you figure it out it was easy sailing. To connect the skimmer I bought a adaptor on amazon " Game 4552" adaptor(highly recomend, will increase flow). Then I connected the plunger valve to the inlet with some plumber's tape to provide a good seal. After that I just ran the hose from plunger to skimmer..Perfect!! For the outlet I removed the Summer Escapes Outlet and replaced with the intex one. I had to open up the hole a tad by using a exacto blade. Pump was easy to assemble and easy to fill with sand. I have it up and running now and it is awesome..the time is great! Love being able to backwash the dirty water. It makes such an improvement to the clarity of the water and not having to deal with those exspensive and useless cartridges. My water is crystal!! This pump is great for vacuuming the pool. One more thing..I put a few small rocks in the pool skimmer basket to weigh it down when the pump turns off. Hope this helps..the pump is worth it!!!

Purchased this to use with my Intex 18x10x42 easy set-up oval frame pool. Set-up was easy and operation is very easy. I was impressed with the strength of the water flow that this produces, even though I had to neck-it-down to fit the Intex Pool connection points. Have had it installed for three weeks and no issues yet. Back-flushing is very easy and effective. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Easy to switch over from the original small filter that came with the pool. Had no issues changing over the filter hoses with the adapters that were sent. Other than buying the sand and finding bolts to put the two sections together the ease of putting the unit together and getting it up and running in the pool was less than an hour. So far so good with keeping the pool clear, not sure if because it is sand and it needs to settle in but do find that I have had to clean the bottom a little more often but I just throw the little rover in and cleans up for use within an hour. As for not having to spend more time and money changing out those cartridge filters within the past two weeks that I have used the Krystal Clear I have already saved myself money. Glad I changed over to this filter.

If you buy a pool you MUST buy this filter also. We have always bought an Intex pool for our children but this year was the first time I purchased this type of Pump, WHY HAVE I WAITED SO LONG! Along with our Salt water pump my days of buying chemical after chemical to make our pool water clear is a thing of the past. I never wanted to pay the extra money for another filter since the pools come with one anyways but it will ABSOLUTLY pay off.

Can't be beat for the money. Size is perfect. Hooks up in minutes. All parts are quality and effective. I replaced and old pump/fillter system with this one and the installation was a breeze. When I followed instructions the system went into run mode immediately when turned on. I really like the self-timing mode. Ship to store was very convenient, too.

I bought this pump after my cartridge filter pump went out after 3 years. It was the best investment I made paying the extra money for this pump instead of going back with the factory pump. I was a bit concerned at first, because the gph on the original cartridge pump was not much difference on the spec sheets. But when I installed this one, it wasn't even close in comparison. The only thing I wished I had know was that the sand did not come with it. It did not state rather it did or did not come with sand. So I had to go the next day after the pump was delivered to my house, to my local pool supply store and buy the sand. But very pleased with the pump, and my pool stays much clearer with this pump verses the cartridge pump.

I have a 15' x 42" Summer Escapes pool. I have found the customer support from this company to be extremely poor. I went on YouTube to finally get some answers on how to get it installed. It works like a dream most of the time, but I need to back wash after every 4 hour session and my vacuum will only work for a few minutes, then the filter needs back washing. The pool is so much cleaner that with the stock filter and pump, though! Overall, I am happy with this product.

I am very pleased at how well this keeps my water clear and blue. We have tried for several years the small filters that came with the pools and was always disappointed because we would have to drain the water and start over just to keep the water clear. We bought a bigger pool (14' x 48") this year, and decided to go with the sand filter with the hopes that it would keep the water clearer. So far (3 weeks) water is still clear!! The only complaint was we bought an Intex pool and when we ordered the Intex sand filter the connection hoses were not the same size as the pool hose connection. Thank goodness my husband came up with a way to connect the filter to the pool!! Intex should be aware and make their products work together!!!!!! (The filter hose was bigger than the pool hole in the pool.)

Does a good job of cleaning. Have had for a week and does a good job but requires a lot of back washing. Doesn't have as much propelling power as I was hoping for on filter mode. Does a great job recirculating water. Overall satisfied just having trouble getting water crystal clear.
