This building set is so cool. The pieces are color-coded by size and function. It also has rods that bend. My son quickly built two different bridges using the instructions, then he free-styled a boat to go under the second bridge with the extra parts. He was so engrossed he didn't want to stop to eat dinner. Any set that does that and teaches spatial skills deserves five stars. This set also comes with a teacher's guide that is great for home schoolers. It is flexible enough to be a unit study or just one or two activities that interest your child. The only thing I didn't like about the guide was that the children illustrated in the lessons looked in about third or fourth grade while the material presented seemed on a seventh or eighth grade level. I would recommend this set to any parent who has a child that is proficient with LEGOs and enjoys building/constructing things, and is 9 years or older (due to the small intricate parts). It is definitely the next step up. There are instructions, but each step includes several smaller steps together. This set probably should not be the first K'NEX set you buy, but it is a great addition to a K'NEX collection.
Wow, this is a really awesome set of K'nex. I spend a lot of time looking for quality toys for my grandsons and K'nex is on the top of my list. This is the second set of K'nex I have acquired and am even more impressed with this set. The container is very sturdy and is a low tray that allows you to select a piece quickly and with out tipping it over. The instruction pamphlet shows 7 different types of bridges with variations and gives a description as well as a photo of a real bridge. This makes it even more appealing when making that particular structure. There are 207 pieces in this set and are brightly colored and makes building easy and fun. It does come with an instruction CD but I did not review this as my major reason for having this set is to enjoy time with my grandsons. However if you are looking for an educational experience this would be a great place to start. There are long and short flex rods that bend to make curves. These need to be bent back and forth a few times before using. I like that the back of the instruction pamphlet has a list of each piece and how many. This makes it easy if a piece is misplaced to know what you are looking for. I guess the best thing of all is just the creative opportunity to design your own structures and see what you can come up with. I recommend this set highly and know any child would be delighted to have it.
So this came in the mail. I gave it to my son. He quickly became obsessed with the instructions and building tons of bridges when he noticed that "hey!! I can use my little cars to drive over the bridge!" So out came his car carpet with the bridge in the middle. Remind you he is 9! But he is a builder by heart! After many fights with him about picking up this set, I have given up and allowed it to sit out! He enjoys playing with it so much that I hate to have him keep breaking it down when he is obviously enjoying himself and not on an electronic! Definitely worth the money and value if you have a bidding engineer on your hands!
My children loved this product they spent hours building with their cousins.
This is a great educational toy for inquisitive minds! I have a child who loves to watch shows ( and documentaries) on how things are made and why they do what they do and how. Bridges is one of many interests for him. This K'NEX set shows you how to put together specific bridges. It has easy to follow instructions on how to make several different bridges. My nine year old had no problem doing this by himself. First he and dad did it together, then he went on to do it several times himself using the picture instructions. He has went on to experiment making other things besides the bridges and had lots of fun. The only down side we've experienced, is that some of the connector pieces break easily, and then we are no longer able to complete some of projects. It is a nice toy for teaching and for teaching your child to follow instructions. The container it comes in is great for storing the pieces when they are no longer being played with. I gave it four stars because it is great for education, minus one because some of the pieces broke after using them only a few times.
The K´Nex Education set for building bridges is a fantastic option for big kids playing because this toy also entertain them, my son of 11 years love it so much. This educational toy teach how to build bridges or other similar structures, develop their imagination and creativity, and the best of all helps your children to use its time in an improvement way. You can find in the package a lot of pieces of different shapes, beautiful colors and of a very resistant plastic material that help you in filling together into each other maintaining stand your creation. The set includes map instructions for building some models of bridges so first your kids could learn basic things like how to match pieces and make towers, its very good. If you have kids from 8 years and up you don´t have to look for another toy, you have to get one of these because it will maintain them very busy, they are going to be very interested in make a lot of things, they will try to recreate and build recognize bridges and invent new ones. This will aid you to reduce the utilization of technology that in this time is being used by kids too much and causing them health and learning problems.
