We use the iron out powder in the salt tank of our softener as our water is heavy with iron, it does work well keeping white laundry items white, so why not get it for the toilet tanks, so far they seem to be working fine, switched from bleach tabs as they don't dissolve completely and you get a big pile of a gooey mess in your toilet tank, time will tell.
This is the only product I've found that cleans the residue from well water easily. I have the spray also and use it on bathtub, tiles and sink areas. This item is so easy, just drop in toilet tank and your done Love it!
Our water softner stopped working and we began to notice a red ring in all of our toilets. Upon researching, we purchased Iron Out and immediately noticed results that left us with our jaws dropped. Not only did the red ring go away, but the toilets had improved flushing (although this is not one of the claims). 100% recommend and this is currently in my shopping cart.
I have very hard, rusty water and this makes my toilet look like I have springwater. Couldn't live without it.
I had to use a pumice bar to get the iron/rust on the side walls and the big ring at the water line off the toilet bowl. Been using the tablets for about a month know and they do keep the rust/iron from coming back on the sidewalls, but deposits do collect under the water line. The iron out does keep the deposits from sticking to much to the bowl under the water line. After awhile I do have to use a brush to get rid of those deposits, but it is much easier to do than before using the tablets.
i was looking for something to take the rusty iron out of my toilets before we purchased a filtration system. These tablets get clumpy and lay in the tank instead of desolving properly. Im glad i dont need to purchase them anymore. i was disappointed. They didnt work. save your money get a pumice stone and a pair of gloves
It says it can last upto 45 days. The one I used did not last 5 days. I live alone and work away from home - so not a lot of flushing activity. It did work, but not as advertised.
If you use it in an older toilet or any toilet that has rust in the tank in the back all the rust breaks off in the toilet tank and comes up into your water supply you water in your toilet and if it's doing that, it must be pretty harsh, especially for a septic system. I do not recommend this.
These left a filmy residue in my toilet tanks and thus toilet bowls. didnt fully dissolve over the 45 days. Would not buy again.
I did not like this product at all. It made such a mess that I had to clean out my toilet tank, and that is something I've never had to do before, and I have lived with this toilet system since 1985. I thought I'd give it a try since I do have iron. I'll stick with the product I've been using.
