No bells and whistles, but still the best clamp you can buy
We run a pattern and mold making shop and rely heavily on these clamps to hold fixtures and parts while they dry. We have been using Irwin Vise-Grip brand for years and will continue to use them as long as the're available. Irwin even supplies use with replacement springs for free. leading hand
I've bought and used the 11R for thirty years; the only reason I have to buy new ones is when I loose one. But the last one I bought was a real let down - the jaw-opening is less than half what it was on the previous examples of the identical model. Evidently there's subtle variations in the lever ratios, but here I have a tool with very limited use simply because it won't open wide enough to get on the job. I hope that tool wasn't the new standard, but how do I check new tools when Irwin locks them up in tamper proof packaging?

Irwin's imitation of the Vise-Grip clamps.
I bought 2 pair of these made in China copies and they don't open as wide the don't release like the Peterson. All I will say about them is I won't buy any more until they are made right and in the USA
