IRWIN VISE GRIP Fast Release Curved Jaw Locking, 10" Long Pliers

My husband was so excited to get the vise grips. He said this is a tool that everyone should have. As we are senior citizens, he doesn't have as much strength in his hands as he used to so these really help with that. They also get into places that are too small to just manually tighten (untighten).

I was surprised at how heavy duty and sturdy these pliers are! They work beautifully to hold what you need locked together, locked together. I have arthritis in my hands and I can use these pretty easily, which is a huge plus for me. I think it's because of the rubber over the metal handles that help my hands. An added plus is it doesn't "snap back" when you release it. Many times I have wished I had something to hold a nut tightly without me having to squeeze a pair of regular pliers together tightly when I needed help loosening a screw. This does the trick for me. I'm glad I got these locking pliers. I can foresee many uses for these pliers in my lifetime! I can recommend these without reservation.

These vice grips are the most comfortable, best working vice grips I've ever used - hands down! First the feel of these are amazing. They are a heavy, quality tool but the grip makes them a pleasure to use. They do not bite into your hands like a traditional metal vise grip when trying to lock extra tight onto a bolt or nut. The locking mechanism is secure and the jaws bite into what you are locking on. The bigger size makes leverage easy. Overall I couldn't be happier with these!

These are nice. They hold solid and the rubbery handles are more comfortable to use. Vise grips are useful for so many things where you need a strong grip but need 2 hands to do other things or want the hold to last for a while why 2 pieces are bonded. I used them to hold the light onto the post after it broke off. The epoxy just needs time to set.

This is a great tool but not for your average DIY project, unless you are super strong. It is sturdy and heavy and has special features for a professional. They come in different sizes; this one is 10". I got the Irwin Vise-Grip Fast Release Locking Pliers, Steel, 11T-10CR, to add to my tool chest. I especially like that they're curved so they are helpful around Plumbing joints that need to be tightened or loosened. I also appreciate the non-slip grip that is especially helpful in wet situations as is the quick release of the locking mechanism. Overall there quite hefty; seem to be strong and sturdy. Seems to be a good price as well.

My husband is a professional handyman. He loves these. He/we got to test these out earlier today when we had to change out a pool pump. These won't lock unless you actually have something in the plier-grips. Once you get a hold on something, then you squeeze the handles and it really locks in. Then you can wrench on whatever you're doing. To release the lock, you just pull the handles apart. My husband said these are easier to unlock than other ones he had for work that have a release button. Oddly, pulling these apart is easier than the release button he's used to. The knob on the end is adjustable...it opens and closes the jaws. The grips are great rubber. Not that fake plastic that cracks right away. The metal jaws seem strong. The metal grip threads don't look or feel like they're gonna flake off or anything. These are just great. I have no complaints at all with these. They're high quality in all aspects and will last a lifetime...or at least several decades.

Glad I got these because my hands are too weak for many things anymore and without help around, these will make it easier to do things on my own. Not sure what that will be right now, but I am ready! These fit my hand just right, and though heavy, they feel secure and solid, with a good grip that is easy to hold onto. Highly recommended! Thanks Walmart!

There are many different variations of "vice grip" type pliers, so please don't buy this one and assume you are covered for all possible situations. These are gripping pliers, meant to grab and lock onto larger objects to either prevent them from moving or to loosen them (more on that later). The pliers are 10 inches long and very heavy. I would estimate that they probably weigh 1 1/2 - 2 lbs. Yes, that much. Good to know and bear that in mind if for some reason you are buying these for an application that requires repetitive motions as they really are that heavy. Now, back to what these are used for. As a Certified Master Auto Tech for over 20 years I personally have a love/hate relationship with vice grip type pliers. When you really need one to grab or extract a pipe fitting or other oddly shaped object they are great. When the do it your selfer crowd uses them to loosen or tighten bolts - that's when the hate comes in. These are not a substitute for the proper wrench or socket. Rounded off nuts/bolts and other mangled fittings because someone decided to use a pliers like this turns into a nightmare at some point for the professionals who have to deal with the situation. Ironically, it is often that the disease and the cure, vice grips, are one and the same. If you need something to grip smaller objects well, these are not for you. Probably anything less than about a 1/2 inch in diameter is going to require a smaller pair of pliers. Also, the small flat gripping surface at the very tip of the pliers only lines up when completely closed. As you squeeze to tighten the pliers down the two surfaces slide together from different angles. As such, trying to grab something like the head of a small bolt with these is likely going to be a challenge. Stick with what these are designed for and they should work fine. They certainly unlock much easier than the traditional pliers like this.

I was happy to receive these to test out. When I got them, I went to test them out right away. The quality is poor as when you go to put them on whatever you want, they do not want to go tight. The 2 pieces that touch at the very top, do not touch evenly, so there is a gap in between. Which in my opinion, is not good because it could mess up whatever you are trying to put these around. I would not recommend these because of the poor quality. The only good thing about these are that they are not heavy.
