Strong!

ShanD October 26, 2021

This axe is awesome. It's strong and sturdy, doesn't vibrate your hands and is nice and sharp so you're not standing there for hours. As someone who basically lives in a forest, this is an awesome addition for us. From a girls point of view, it's pretty stylish looking too. Really gets the job done smoothly and timely!

Amazing for splitting wood!

McK346 November 2, 2021

This maul is well made and has a good balance and makes for fast work. There is noticeably less vibration than our old maul, this Fiskar maul is also about half the weight of the old one and is much easier to use for an extended period of time (and there is just something so satisfying about watching the wood split open). It is defenitely more effective and efficent. After using on three cords, we've seen no evidence of damage to the head, it's every bit as good as it was on the first piece. Awesome product and highly recommended!

Nice maul

MichiganMommy October 17, 2021

I like this maul. So far it works really nicely for me. It's been nice to tidy up the yard and split some wood for the fire pit. This Fiskars Pro IsoCore model is an eight pounder. It is pretty heavy for me, but you need that force usually to get a nice grain split in the wood. I like the grip because it doesn't hurt my hands. I also like that it has a reusable blade edge cover. It's molded so the head doesn't detach. There is also a nice blunt side on the back of the head. The lifetime warranty is also a plus. This tool will definitely be handy.

Great quality,, doesn't disappoint

momof31129 October 21, 2021

My husband and I watched a short You Tube video for wood splitting with this Maul, and we have been wanting one since watching the video. We have some down trees and we absolutely hate splitting wood. Although I have used Fiskars brand exclusively for crafts and scissors, I was not aware they also made tools. Fiskars is a great brand, their products are top of the line quality, durable, made to last. And this maul is true to the Fiskars brand, incredibly well made to handle the demolition projects we have started. Although we still haven't split any wood, we aren't dreading it now. I decided to use the mallet to break apart some concrete that had shrub, small tree roots growing underneath and causing the concrete to rise. I literally had the concrete broke off and was able to cut through the roots in less then 30 minutes. I didn't think the hatchet was sharp enough to break through those roots, but it really did the job. We have now broke up a concrete slab, and demolished 2 aluminum walls on our shed using its Maul. We were really happy just to get a quality splitter, and found a gem for so many needs.

Very Positive

Tyler November 4, 2023

It splits extremely efficiently. Been splitting nothing but semi-seasoned oak and it tears through it as long as you can place the head properly. It's very durable. Overswings that strike the handle just below the head do little to no damage to the handle, even with full force, wound-up, over-the-shoulder swings. Nicks on the blade barely damage it in my experience, most I've taken off the blade is 1/32 of an inch, and 1/16th, but the 16th was me accidentally hitting the corner of a wedge while trying some fancy technique. It dissipates shock very well. No matter how hard you strike, (as long as you wear shock absorbing gloves) there's very little shock. It does very well compared to wooden or steel handle mauls regardless, but those gloves take all the pain away do I highly recommend using them with this maul. Overall, I just really enjoy it. The build, the safety features, the durability, the efficiency, it just has it all. Love it.

Heavy duty!

Usacntrygirl October 17, 2021

I got this maul to replace my husband's old beat-up one. When it arrived his first words were, "it's heavy duty, I think I have a pile of wood to split to test it. Well, he went to find wood to split because he was so excited. He said it handles really well. It is easy to grip and the head splits just as well as any maul he's ever used. He really likes the different textures of the handle because it makes it really easy to hold onto. The one comment he did make is that it seems to be plastic where the head is secured onto the handle so he is wondering how long that will hold up with consistent use. Otherwise, he loves his new splitting maul.

Impressive!

Stephanie October 11, 2021

I have always been a fan of Fiskars products in the quilting line (sewing products) but recently learned of their outdoor products. This is a massive beast. I didn't know if I would be able to split these big logs, but one swing of this thing and it was NO problem! I'm 50 y/o female and I had no problem lifting it to swing it to split wood. It did not cause any vibration in my hands either. Very very nice maul.

Great Maul at a Great Price

Soulman February 3, 2023

Fiskars 8lb Maul makes a good companion to the Fiskars 36 inch splitting ax. Both are excellent and have different uses. The weight of the maul uses gravity, to do the work; therefore, you expend a lot of energy lifting the 8 pounds. But… It can handle stubborn pieces of wood.

Heavy, works great!

SamanthaW October 26, 2021

This maul really does the job. It's heavier than a normal axe and is the first maul I've owned. I occasionally get it stuck in the a piece of wood (usually a larger chunk), but am able to use a sledge hammer to finish the job. With the durability of this thing (I have missed the piece of wood and it vibrates my hands, but doesn't show wear on the maul) I expect it to last a long time. It cuts cleanly through the wood and has made splitting wood for camp fires a lot easier for me!

Pretty tough

Mel October 27, 2021

First the good things. We used it over a period of a couple weeks to do some work around the farm. It worked great for driving in wood posts and chopping wood. The grip on the handle is awesome and didn't leave anyone with any blisters and I believe the shock absorption really helped. The only bad thing I really have to say is that the edge has a knick in it after splitting the first log but it has held up otherwise.
