iSpice Gumbo File Powder. 5.3 ounces purchased in Feb 2025 for $7.99. It arrives in a foil seal under the shaker top. Price was good, actually $5.00 lower than Beezwax behemoth website. Product was listed as only ground saassafras leaves and is a product of USA. Trying it in gumbo, I am not a fan of Okra.

This stuff is really good thicken my gumbo up perfectly and I only had to use a little bit awesome

Delivery was on time and exactly as I requested. I look forward to using it in lots of dishes.

I purchased this with the intention of making homemade Jalapeno Cheddar popcorn, and it works exceptionally well for that purpose. However, I've also discovered its versatility in my tacos, salsa, carnitas, and carne asada recipes, as well as in other dishes that could use a spicy kick without the hassle of preparing fresh peppers. One thing to note is that it's finely ground and can be a bit messy when measuring, so be cautious. I've found myself sneezing quite a bit for a while after using it!

File powder can be challenging to find where I reside, and this purchase was essentially the same price as a small bottle from a local store, so it made sense to buy it. I've noticed that it contains some thyme, which allows me to use slightly less than the recipe suggests.

What can be said? It's a spice.
