Awesome all around

ToniToni September 22, 2020

I was looking for a slick, simple, easy to use that doesn't overtake the family room. I have it placed on my furniture with the LG CX and it's exactly the right height where it doesn't block the image. The ACTUAL wireless speakers are great and have had “concerts” at my home with friends and family. They all get amazed on how well it sounds and when I transform that puppy into a pit bull by separating the speakers they always have this amazed reaction. And even ask where the wire for the power? For me it's an awesome sound system that doesn't take too much space and great bass. Awesome work on your soundbar. Attached a picture so you see I'm not lying on the whole image not being cut off like other soundbars and this TV is a low rider being a 77 inch. It does need a software update where the Apple TV is connected to the soundbar so when I try to AirPlay 2 it won't do it unless I click on the JBL and HomePod separately. Kind of annoying but hopefully it gets fixed.

It deserves more than 5 stars

Faddy October 22, 2020

Its a bass machine. Best ever sound experience. Extremely satisfied. Till nw, I couldn't check the full sound. I feel like getting heart attack when sound goes beyond 80%. Its that loud. Out of 4 bass levels, u will nvr cross 2. That itself is more than enough. Google home connectivity is awesome and gives option to change volume frm phone itself when connected using wifi. Things which i felt missing are aux input and a mobile app for the bar.. Jst go for it guys. I can guarantee that you will surely love its performance

Movie Theater & Live Concert at Home

IbrahimBoran June 21, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall Quality & Feel & Important Features: The main soundbar, detachable speakers, and the subwoofer look very minimal and give out a premium, high-end feel. They feel very sturdy, compact, and durable. From the LED screen/indicator to the minimal buttons on the main soundbar, every piece has a quality feel to it. The detachable wireless surround speakers are one of the best features this product offers. I love how simple it is to just detach the speakers from the main soundbar and place it on the desired location. Not all "surround sound" soundbars have this feature! The strong magnets on each side of the main soundbar and also on the detachable speakers allow a seamless and easy connection for charging and overall premium appearance (shown in the photo). The LED indicators on both of the detachable speakers are also a great touch (shown in the photo). They turn white when completely charged and turn red when charging. The bar also notifies when the battery is low on the detachable speakers so there's no need to worry about the battery or it suddenly turning off. The small strips on the main soundbar as well as on the detachable speakers protect the devices from slipping and scratching the surface (shown in the photo). The detachable speakers can also be mounted on the wall (as well as the main soundbar) and they come with all the required tools/items for it except the screwdriver of course. The LED screen/indicator located on the right side of the main soundbar displays the source options, connected device's name, bass and volume level, and so on (shown in the "MUTE" photo). There are also four buttons on the main soundbar that allow easy turn on, as well as volume, and source adjustments. Therefore, if you wish to connect with your mobile device via Bluetooth and simply play music, those buttons make the process easier and less time-consuming. As far as the subwoofer goes, it is very solid, minimal, and large enough. Audio Quality: Just like any other JBL product, there was no surprise in this category. It definitely feels weird at first because having two speakers slightly behind you isn't something we're used to at home. However, it for sure adds a lot to the audio experience. I was able to discover more in the songs I usually listen to and the movies and the tv series I usually watch. The kicks, open/close hats and snares feel punchier and crispier in electronic dance music, 808s shake the house in rap music and the saxophone was definitely present in my soul when listening to jazz music. I felt like I was in the front row of an electronic dance music concert in Brooklyn with this setup right in my living room. The same concept applies to movies as well. The sound effects, soundtracks, voices, and transitions are clearer. The "Atmos" and "Rear" buttons on the remote allow the user to switch between low, mid, and high levels of Dolby Atmos. Therefore, the "surround sound" effect could be adjusted as desired. There's also no lag when playing movies and videos from a device that's connected via Bluetooth. There are five bass levels (1-5) and as I mentioned, bass at 5 definitely shakes the floor and vibrates the objects around it which is amazing. The audio quality of the subwoofer is phenomenal (amazing bass) and adds a lot of depth to audio, whether that's in movies or music. What could have been done better & recommendations: - More audio control buttons on the main soundbar: Yes, we have the remote for a reason but some nights when you just want to listen to late-night tunes, you don't want to deal with a remote or going through settings. Therefore, just like how there's a power, volume up/down, and a source button on the soundbar, there could've been a bass, atmos, and/or rear buttons located right on the main soundbar. - LED or RGB for the buttons on the main soundbar and on the remote: Again, I cannot see the buttons when I enter the living room at night. The buttons could've also had LED lights so that we know where to press and don't keep pressing the same buttons over and over again or try to find the right button by sliding our fingers around. Just like how it is on the JBL Flip speakers where the power button lights up when pressed, the same concept could've been applied here with an always-on light. The same comments apply to the remote as well. A little lighting on the remote would've been better. In addition, it would be better if they were RGB where we can control the color of the light via an app (more on this at the end). - Larger detachable speakers: Detachable speakers are definitely one of the best features of this product, however, they are small. Even though they are still good enough, larger speakers could've had a greater impact and add more to the experience. - Longer power cables for the bar and the subwoofer: There are two identical power cables and they are identically short! Yes, our devices' cables are getting shorter every day, however, this shouldn't be the case with this amazing product. I had to purchase an extra extension cord to get power to the set-up. - Application for easy controls: Just like the JBL Headphones app, an app for these sound set-ups (not just the 9.1) would've been great. As I mentioned, we could customize the RGB lights on the soundbar, use an equalizer, or simply control the set-up from our mobile devices. Yes, there's a remote but controlling the settings from our phones are way easier and cooler considering that we all have our phones with us at all times but not the remote.

JBL 9.1 Atmos Soundbar lives up to JBL quality!

Chevy513 April 21, 2024

Best soundbar ever! I have always used receivers and speakers and have never been a fan of soundbars. That was until I heard this soundbar and I immediately got it. I love how unlike a lot of soundbars all the speakers are wireless! The main soundbar only needs to plug into the eARC HDMI port on your TV or the Digital Optical port if your oldschool and also into a power outlet, the subwoofer is wireless and only needs to plug into a power outlet, the rear speakers are totally wireless with built in batteries that give your around 8 to 10 hours of battery life before you need to plug them onto the sides of the soundbar to charge them, or you can plug them into a power outlet with a USB port so that you never have to charge them. Also everything is super easy to setup, I had my system plugged in and set up in about 20 minutes, the wireless sub and wireless speakers connect super easy with no guesswork involved. I have an LG TV and it connected to my TV just fine and although I have to use the JBL remote to adjust things like Bass, Atmos and Rear speaker levels, however my LG TV remote adjusts the volume just fine. My previous sound system was a 5.1 receiver speaker setup with a 10" sub which was pretty weak since it had no built in amp and ran off the receiver giving it only about 50watts. However my 5.1 system sounded decent, or at least I though so till I heard my JBL 9.1 Soundbar! I had never experianced Atmos at home before, but now that I have I will never go back to not having Atmos. Think about it like this with 5.1 Surround Sound you can hear when someone is coming from behind or from the left or right, well with Atmos Surround Sound it makes that way better all of the sudden your hearing things above you, like a helicopter or jet fly over head, things exploding above you, a car flying over the top of you, a building crashing down around you etc. it brings theater sound to your livingroom. It's basically like 3 dimensional sound and unlike the 3D TV fad Atmos Surround Sound is here to stay! Once you have heard it you will be a believer

Great Sound and easy wireless connectivity

Frankee June 30, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK, this is my first soundbar. It's got much more amplification than I need. And that's perfect. I'm not an Audiophile but am picky - 30+ years of working in broadcast control rooms does that to you - and the JBL Bar 9.1 checks all the boxes. It took less than 45 minutes from opening the shipping box to having sound that blew me away. All the speakers connect automatically, no extra cords necessary; the Sub has a separate power connection. Connectivity was important, as the TV has become the hub of my video experience, with both smart apps and DirecTV going through there. My Bar is connected to a Samsung smart TV via Optical Audio cable...and wow, what a difference between that and Bluetooth! With Bluetooth connection I had to go to 15 or higher but with Optical I can keep it at 7 and hear things just fine. Also, if you're direct connected the display tells what sound is being delivered to the dock - Dolby and/or Surround, etc. Maybe not necessary but a detail I expect on a high-end system. In addition to TV you can also simultaneously connect the phone, laptop etc via Bluetooth or a Connected Home system using WiFi. Source switching is done with the remote. One drawback - battery life on the detachable surround speakers. In normal use I get about 3 days between charges. So I am looking into directly powering them via microUSB. For now I leave them attached to the main bar unless I want surround effects. As expected, TV and Movie sound is fantastic, especially on programs with Surround. That 25lb Sub woofer (yup 25 pounds!) makes for great rendition of all sound effects. The Sub has a separate 1 to 5 scale for loudness and I'm usually at 3. I have not yet optimized the room but suspect that will make experience even better. If you dig into the Owner's Manual there are directions/diagrams for that and for setting up the best DolbyATMOS experience by locating the surround speakers. And since they're wireless (yay!) they can be moved at will.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

BONG10 January 11, 2021

Words cannot describe the sound quality of this JBL 9.1 soundbar. The product is premium both in terms of sound and finishes. A bar with a thousand details that will not stand out because of a thousand multimedia options that almost nobody uses. It has what it takes for a demanding user and to have a good team to cast from any app that allows the bar to transmit. Ultra recommended. The DOLBY ATMOS and DTS-X sound is the most impressive I have ever heard in a home system of this kind. It may not have an equalization option to use it as HI-FI for music. But it is that it really sounds basic at levels that other brands do not even dream of. Movies like Mad Max: Fury Road for Dolby Atmos or Atomic Blonde on DTS-X in its most top sound mixing representation will leave you breathless in the armchair at home.

Great speaker. The best so far by JBL.

RockyKarthik June 18, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I switched from a 3.1 channel soundbar to this 9.1 channel one. The sound quality is excellent. It totally transformed my living room into a movie theatre. The detachable speakers offer surround sound which totally offers a different level of experience. Some cons: - Sometimes I hear a lot of disturbance from the detachable speakers - the audio quality is excellent but the maximum Volume is not sufficient for me. Max volume is 32. I would've been happy if the max volume is at least 40 or 50. When at high Bass and high Atmos, the voices and lyrics are not clearly audible. Other than that this is a fantastic speaker and gives you a mind blowing experience.

Really great sound when it's working

red42dragon November 1, 2020

I bought this on 28/09/2020 I was initially impressed Lately however the sound bar keeps switching off by itself which is very frustrating. There doesn't seem to be a fix for this. I have tried using different HDMI cable's and different power boards also changed settings to the tv and PlayStation but it turns off every few minutes while gaming or watching tv or Netflix
