[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently took this on a week long family vacation and all I can say is WOW! This speaker is incredible. We used this speaker daily from pumping music outside playing bags to listening to 80's music playing card games while the grandparents sleep. I am notorious for allowing the battery on my phone to get into the RED zone, so having the ability to charge my phone off of the Boombox was a lifesaver. The trip was 7 days long and we only charged the Boombox 2 one time. I had to stop my brother in-law from packing this speaker in his car, because he was so impressed with the unit.
Great speaker, extremely loud even at low volume. Super clear and loud at high volume as well. Amazing style and looks like something that's very rugged. I know how dependable, durable, and loud JBL's are because I have an extreme 2 and it's insanely loud and this one is bigger, and louder than the extreme 2. I also have a clip 3 and I like how portable it is via the carabiner that's on it. They're all good and still look good to this day and many more days in the future. So all in all, if you're looking for a speaker that'll rock a party or start a good outdoor party (or both because of its all day battery) this is the speaker for you. Rock on!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If I had to use a word to describe the JBL Boombox 2 it would definitely be "BEAST"! The sound that comes out of the Boombox 2 is unreal! This speaker gets LOUD and I happily say that without distortion. The highs and mids are clear and crisp, but definitely the best and most impressive feature of the JBL Boombox 2 is the bass. This speaker fills large rooms with powerful clean bass and also outdoor areas (something that IMO no other portable speaker can do). Also, the bass radiators look amazing while playing music! Battery life is also great with a little over 20 hours of playtime, and I love I can literally take it anywhere since it's waterproof (IPX7) In conclusion, if you are looking for a big portable speaker with great battery life, amazing sound, monstrous bass, waterproof you really can't go wrong with the JBL Boombox 2.
Just received this boom box 2 1 day ago and I already love it. Great treble and bass.
When I was a teenager boomboxes were how you were introduced music and pop culture. Boomboxes were cool. They connected young people via their music playback. And, they looked cool. What I love about the JBL Boombox 2 is it doesn't try to be something it's not. It's not trying to be a portable audiophile speaker, or a portable smart speaker. Plug it in. Play something via it's analogue AUX in, or bluetooth. That great JBL sound signature comes through and it's engaging. It also looks great and is tough enough to handle the outdoors. It's big, audacious and refined, all at the same time. I'm an audiophile with $$$ invested in my sound system. But I get just as much enjoyment from this boombox. Maybe it's partly due to nostalgia (like vinyl). But I'm hooked. I don't need another speaker in my life. But you what?... I'll find regular use for this and I'll enjoy it. Thanks, JBL.
I purchased one Boombox 2 on account of the quality of sound produced by the mini JBL portable Bluetooth speaker Flip 5. The sound quality way surpassed my expectations of what to expect, that I purchased a 2nd Boombox 2 so that I could link them up to play in stereo. I now have nightclub quality sound in my living room. I cannot recommend these speakers more.
I've had this speaker for about a month now and have therefore experienced its complete qualities. JBL Boombox 2 is a speaker that does exactly what you read on its description page. It plays ridiculously loud music for hours. Many hours. I've used my boombox 2 every day since I got it, and I rarely have to charge. I've used it indoor, outside, in a car, in the park - wherever I've wanted to increase my music experience. As it handles drips of water and handles such environments, I've used it in the bathroom whilst showering. The only bad thing I have to say about such everyday use, is that it is too easy to turn up the volume and be an embarrassment to the neighbors. It has a nice sound, good bass, and wonderful music picture whenever you start blasting. What I miss is some physical equalizer-control on the speaker, but after having had it for a while, it has stopped annoying me. I like the design and I like the easy interface. If you want a speaker to amplify the part experience, JBL boombox 2 is the right product for you. It is a leader in its own category of speakers being made to play for hours, and loud.
I bought this product yesterday and am already considering returning it. Don't believe the hype ! Loudest boombox ever - that's not a great advertisement for your other products if that's the best you can do. The passive areas at the ends of the unit are visually impressive jumping around during playback but the ooompfh isn't there, sure some tracks are better Swedish house mafia flac / alac is one of the better sounding compilations but interestingly Avicii Levels was only mediocre both flac and alac. I'm no audiophile but I like my music loud but the device was tepid at best, some tracks were ok but not outstanding. Muddy sounding, mediocre volume device would be a better description. So I don't expect to have to use audio editing to change mid range and treble and normalise tracks just to get a good sound out of a device .... but looks like a doctored playlist would help, shame there's no graphic equaliser. There's no clipping on my tracks and they're of good lossless quality - they play extremely well through my raspberry pi DAC but fail miserably on this device. The portability is better than the party box series but the volume is poor, my car bulk standard stereo is comparable ! I tried both the indoor and outdoor feature, it simply adds medium treble and bass or removes it. Great that it can be used outside and is waterproof. I own a Bose minilink which to be honest gives this device a run for its money and is way less expensive, volume wise I would say is only a shade quieter and about 1/10th the size. ( I don't have any affiliation with Bose - just stating for comparison) So do I return it and pay the extra for the party box 300 ? Don't like the size and portability restrictions, so probably not. Looks like I'm forced to remaster my favourite tracks to get the best out of the device. But as per my opening statement, disappointed at this price point for the volume achieved both when on mains supply or battery mode. As the old school reports use to say, if they only applied themselves to the subject matter they would do much better, they have the knowledge but don't apply themselves, must try harder. A poor attempt at a portable ‘loud' speaker.
Battery life is not as stated. We only purchased this unit two months ago to use at work. It's not very loud and battery only lasts like 3 hours. It's such a shame for the money we spent.
after switching on, it froze, the column does not respond to the power button, I cannot turn it off. I tried different key combinations, nothing helps, the bluetooth was not connected. I pressed the key combination, reset to factory settings, after connecting the bluetooth, I wait until it is discharged, it can help. the power button does not respond, the battery indicator does not show that the column is discharged. very disappointed
