I use this from the shower to picnic with friends. Water does not go in and ruin the sound quality so the speaker can get a little water but it won't sound off. I don't know about the damage water cause but so far I have had no problems. I think the material is by rubber hence it is still good. I have the blue version and I think it looks great!
