These are great pc speakers and they look great too in my office next to my monitor. Years ago, JBL products were very similar to the sound from Bose and I am definitely pleased with the sound of these speakers as they still have a great sound, just like Bose!!!
I got these as an upgrade from my previous studio monitors and i can tell you, it made a huge difference. i also love the fact that the tweeter and woofer are combined in each speaker.
I bought these to replace a set of blown-up KRK Rokit 5s (G2) because the amp sections had died, probably bad caps in the amp section. Replacing the amp sections was economically unfeasible so I found these online and decided to take the plunge. What a pleasant surprise. JBL hits another home run!!!
These speakers have a rich warm sound. I have my laptop plugged into them and I love the sound!
love these speakers and they are awesome
I love these speakers. They are perfect for my office computer and fit on the desk perfectly. The price is definitely a good deal for the quality of the speakers.
Great audio quality makes excellent desktop speakers if WIRED. With Bluetooth, I experienced a noticeable delay with video (would be fine for non-video audio!). I switched to wired and it was much better!
I'm giving these four stars because I also own a pair of JBL 305p MkII monitors. The sound quality of these is excellent, but the MkII's is clearly better. That said, given the size of the 104s and the various methods of connectivity these monitors offer, they are well worth the price of admission. I needed a slightly smaller set of monitors for a new desk setup, and these fit the bill perfectly without sacrificing (too much) sound quality. What's missing, sound-wise, with these? The range isn't quite as robust. Basses aren't quite as deep; highs aren't quite as vibrant, but mid-range (to my ear) is excellent. If you can afford the MkIIs and have the space, go for those, but you will not be sacrificing much by going with the 104s. They are really excellent speakers overall. The other reason for four stars, however, is that these speakers have a built-in feature that you apparently cannot disable, and that is that they will go into low-power mode if they don't detect a certain line voltage. I've found this feature to be *really* annoying. Sometimes, I have music on while I'm working, and I want it at a low volume. However, the speakers are not detecting enough voltage and are dropping into sleep mode. It's not a huge deal, as I can turn the volume up slightly; it's just a matter of figuring out where the magic line is when I want background music on while I'm working without blowing my ears off at the same time. In future version of these, I'd recommend that the minimum voltage is dropped (I think it's currently 3.something volts) or (even better) provide a way to enable/disable the feature.
The sound quality of these speakers is incredible, but they suffer from trying to be too many different things at once. They don't really work as general listening or computer speakers – the sound is too flat and just nowhere near as immersive as you could get from other options at the same price-point; your ears will be left wanting. They *also* don't really work as hi-fi or monitor speakers, due to the absence of bass (which is very noticeable). I thought these would be a decent substitute for the 305s, which were out of stock, but I was pretty disappointed. I would suggest if you are looking for monitors even at the intro level to just save up for something slightly more expensive.
I bought these after using a standard Logitech surround sound setup which was usually used for my computer, but had them connected to my Audio technica turntable. I decided to treat myself to these after reading fairly good reviews across different vendors sites. When I got home and set them up I was so dissapointed in the sound they produce that I have returned them to JBHIFI the same day. No capacity for clarity, a constant innate muffle and fuzz over the sound. Can't cope with layered music eg prog rock. When the music got bassy they lowered their sound. Absolutely awful speakers.
