Brilliant piece of kit, don't be fooled by the size. Packs a mighty punch with great battery life. I had the Go3 which was already a great piece of kit but this upgrade together with the app and the option to customize for your surroundings is a brilliant addition. Great when you don't have much space or don't want a big speaker using up space. Packs the punch of a far bigger speaker. Great for use in kitchen, gardens, walking, at the park, pool tennis courts or even on the bike it's so portable and durable. 10/10
I bought this a few weeks ago to replace the JBL GO4. The JBL Go 5 delivers louder, cleaner sound with improved bass for its tiny size. Its battery lasts up to 8–10 hours, depending on whether you use Playtime Boost. Connectivity is excellent thanks to Bluetooth 6.0, Auracast support, and USB‑C audio. The speaker is extremely tough, offering IP68 dust‑ and waterproofing plus a rugged body. It also features a refreshed design with ambient edge lighting, making it both durable and visually appealing.

Compared to the Go 4 it is very much better. The strap is much more flexible and can fit in tighter places easier and having a low battery sound notification makes it easier to start charging it instead of it just dying when you are busy. If you have the app you can permanently change how the lights are and just be off when you are using it. It can still connect with the old Go 4 and it is as durably as well. For me it sounds a bit more clearer than the old one.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been very impressed with this little Bluetooth speaker despite it's snall size thr soeaket delivers clear sounds with strong low bass sounds Multi connection features seamlessly switch between my devices(phone and laptop) Bulld quality is excellent with very Sturdy soft material and it will last long timr
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome little speaker! We have an older version of the JBL Go which is still going strong, but this latest version has a couple of really great upgrades. It’s waterproof and dust proof. We hang it in the shower, we’ve taken it to the beach, the attached loop makes it super portable. It’s extremely rugged, there’s a rubberized feel to the exterior which feels very solid. Super easy to pair via Bluetooth, it’ll remember the last connection and connect quickly. And of course the sound is what you’d expect from JBL, really packs a punch for a tiny speaker, it can fill a whole room with sound. The app is easy to use. You have to use the app to control the equalizer and to turn off the lights. You can also connect multiple speakers to create surround sound. My only only gripe about the product is that it is yet another JBL app. At this point I have an app for my earbuds, an app for my soundbar and now another app for this portable speaker. The apps all work great and all look and work the same. So I just wish it could all just be one app.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JBL really packed everything they could into this Go 5! This speaker can actually fill a room with its sound with no distortion with some presence of mids and lows even with this tiny set up. Perfect for outdoor sporting events, clipping on a backpck for hiking, to keeping it bedside or at the office, this JBL Go 5 can handle it all thanks to its sleek and mordern design while also being very rugged handling decent drops and being IP68. Buttons as very clicky and would easily be able to use with gloves. With the JBL portable app, you can control the mini light show, the EQ, connect two of these together, get software updates, and use the playtime boost feature that adds 2 hours on top of the 8 hours this Go 5 already has normally! Essentially it adjusts lows and enhances mids and highs and has a little bit of a louder output. One thing to note, probably a one off but my packaging said I had a black JBL Go 5 but did receive a yellow one upon opening it up, which is not disappointing! JBL has always put out some great products and if you need a super portable speaker that still sounds and looks great this is the one for you!
Love the 2 red ones I purchsed of the to go 5 ( after just purchasing a pair of to go 4's). However, for as big a company as you are, your operating instructions, or lack there off, suck. I had forgotten this issue when I purchased 2 Boom Boxes several years back. Whey can't you make an easy, straightforward, online manual to follow? How hard can it be?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very portable speaker. The sound is good for a very small speaker. The speaker doesn't have a lot of bass, but the clarity is good until you hit higher volumes. The speaker feels rugged and like it is waterproof. The battery life after a full charge is exceptional. Just remember to listen at lower volumes to have the battery life last. The speaker fits comfortably inside a front pocket when on the go. I recommend this speaker for a group of 4 to 5 people. The light show on speaker is cool too. Another exceptional product from JBL
Come on. If you send these out to people for free, you are not going to receive a 'genuine' review. If you are engaging with all of the 'influencer nonsense' then again, not a genuine review. Couldn't you wait for real fans/buyers to contribute their views. It really does seem desperate and a lot misleading. I own the Go 3 and it's really good and I purchased it with my own money and I will almost certainly buy the Go 5 once again with my own money. JBL won't be sending me a free one in the hope of a glowing review with lovely photographs included. Or will they? No they won't. Anyway, it would also help if What Hi-Fi didn't publish the review before the product was completely available. Very few of the colours are there to be purchased as I write this. Surely that does not make any business sense at all. Anyway, I'm certain it will be a great little product which I can listen to in the coming few days or weeks. I'll check back after the weekend for the latest news on availability.
